The P. Della Cisterna is straight up, from any entrance into the city. If you are staying in this Piazza, you may drive in to offload your luggage, but, then, you must leave the area, and park outside the walls, in one of the parking lots. Even though this is still the low season, plenty of nice shops are open,... More

This is one of two main piazzas in San Grimigano and gets name from the well in the square. The piazza is surrounded by medieval buildings some of which have towers for which San Grimigano is famous. You can't miss the piazza if visiting this town.

The most picturesque of Tuscany's hill towns...this walled jewel with its unique bell towers. Piazza della Cisterna with its stone well is a great location to witness the charm of this medieval marvel...numerous eateries, hotels and shoppes dot the landscape. A perfect village for an overnight stay before or after Siena.

The Piazza della Cisterna is an interesting piazza with an ancient stone well in the center (the well is no longer working but is an interesting artifact) - there is a wonderful market here on Thursdays and it is a great place to sit back and people watch. Also located in the piazza is the amazing Gelateria Dondoli - not... More

After entering San Gimignano and walking past the souvenir shops and cafes located on the quaint road you come to this beautiful square in search of the inevitable Gelateria Dondoli for its world famous gelato. Otherwise there is nothing much to do here except to soak in the idyllic atmosphere and just hang around. Or relax in the lovely cafes... More

A nice square with the well in the center. Nice and well kept as the whole town. A visit is recommended for sure.

Despite of many tourists (naturally), this is the the place to visit in Tuscany. Have been there for three times and still would go because it`s atmosphere and nice buildings. Just brilliant.

San Gimignano is beautiful and enchanting, with its many medieval towers still rising high into the air. We fell in love with the charm of San Gimignano as soon as we arrived. There are many shops and boutiques built right into the stone walls that line the alleys of San Gimignano. We found many specialty food, wine, leather, and ceramic... More

We had spent over a week in the countryside enjoying serenity, vineyards, etc., so coming to this little city was almost overwhelming. It is definitely a bustling place but it really is a fabulous site to see you as you are driving towards it. The tall walls, the very old buildings -- it is just amazing. Walking in and out... More

It has be borne in mind that adorable San Gimignano is a small town and the piazzas are small and can not be compared to the grand piazzas of Siena or Florence. But it is precisely herein that lies this town's charm. It gives a taste of live during those long gone days.
