The approach is such that you are filled with anticipation. You can see the medieval towers from some distance away from the back roads or the country roads and once parked outside the town walls you can make your way in to a world of untarmaced mainly pedestrian areas of piazzas and of course churches and shops to cater for... This happened to be included in our tour ( which I booked last minute). I fell in love with this place. The stone structures are magnificent. We wished we have more time. The surounding rolling hills exudes tranquility. It would be fun to make the nooks and crannies. You won't regret if you come here.

It's well worth the visit! Once you move past the lower touristy part(which is still charming anyway) you reach the i upper squares and very special spaces near the cathedrals....completely magic...it's out of a dream...you'll love San Gimignano!

San Giminamo was one of 3 small villages that we visited during our 18 days in Italy. It was the best, I could stay there for quite a long time to live a San Gimignano dream! The weekley fresh produce market was amasing and we bought dinner for 6 of the most delicious meats, breads and cheeses. Luckily for us... More

We went over to San Gimignano for a half day trip and absolutely loved it. Parking was easy outside the walls and it was a great day for a walk through the little streets, to enjoy the piazzas, to visit the museums, the Duomo/Basilica, the Rocca! The museo della tortura was striking - I won't do that again! All in... More

This interesting museum has excellent exhibits that describe life in Tuscany during the middle ages - entrance is free but there is a fee to rent the audioguide. Definitely worth a visit if, like us, you are a history buff.

Is free and the replica is good, you can capture pictures that would appear you are on top of the City.

We visited San Gimignano several times on our honeymoon. After our first visit we just kept going back. It is a fantastic place with some great history, amazing architecture and fantastic restaurants.
