A lovely little church on the other side of the Arno in a quite part of Pisa. This one has a bell tower that leans just like its famous cousin in the tourist part of town.

Charming. . A bit far off the center but very nice walk along the river.. ideally by bike. If you have more days here this is a good site.

Though much less famous, the bell tower of this lovely church leans at an even more impressive angle than it’s more famous cousin across the city. The church wasn’t open sadly, but we were able to park up and have a picnic beside the Arno, sitting on a wall. If you come to Pisa for the famous Torre, it’s worth taking a small detour to come and see this lovely place too.

My wife & I (with the help of directions given by hotel) walked through a pleasant leafy residential part of south east Pisa, next to the River Arno, before reaching this gem of an architectural irregularity. This church tower is not nearly as high as the more famous Cathedral bell tower but still very impressive. We didn't have the opportunity to go inside but seeing the tower from the outside was most worthwhile.

Sadly it was shut and we could not see the interior but not only was the exterior beautiful, the leaning tower was fun to see! This is the lesser known leaning tower of Pisa. Quite a hike to get there but the walk there was all along the River Arno and most pleasant.

Inside has a 13th C. Crucifix.
We learned that the word Scalzi refers to the barefoot Monks that were associated with the church.

This beautiful, medieval church is situated near to the Arno river. You can appreciate the building also from outside, because it has a leaning tower bell. A very nice view!
