About
The walkway of Pisa’s Walls, with its 11 meters high, gives to the public the possibility to observe the city from an original perspective. A pleasant walk to admire from above the typical pisan overview, from Piazza dei Miracoli to Piazzetta Del Rosso. An itinerary that surprises the visitor for the beauty of the places, among recovered garden, archaeological and artistic treasures. The building of Pisa’s Walls began in 1154

it's about a 3km walk all the way on the wall, but it offers little you would not see without paying the 3 Euro entrance fee. there is a nice view on the Cathedral compound however from the very end, the last corner of the walk. on a hot sunny day I would not really recommend it.

Although the full length of the wall wasn't open, €3 was a very reasonable price to be able to walk the part of the wall that is open. Great view of the Piazza dei Miracoli, but also things you can't see from the Piazza, such as the Jewish cemetery, and also (a bit randomly!) three military jet planes at I.I.S.L. da Vinci-Fascetti

A beautiful building right beside the Leaning Tower - didn't get a chance to go inside but it's just as amazing from the outside.

It was an excellent walk. There is information at every step. By walking on the wall of Pisa, you end up to discover more of the city, not just the leaning tower.

5 stars for the section near the tower, really amazing views and we were the only people on the walls.
2 stars for the section after the Campo. Boring and took us through housing estates, nothing interesting at all. What a waste of time!
Is go again, but limit ourselves to the Campo.

We climbed the walls (3 euros per person) to get a different view of the square and the leaning tower. It was worth it for that alone. It was also a bit cooler in the breeze up there. We decided to walk the full length into town, and while we enjoyed the walk it was pretty unspectacular once you left the Piazza del Miracoli behind.
Two warnings to other visitors: (1) the best view of the tower from the wall has been restricted by a high fence (I assume at the request of the residents below), which is annoying; (2) they are no toilets at the various wall access points or in their immediate vicinity.

one of the entrances to this is near the Battistero, right in the corner of the grass area. You get great views of the main buildings and if you walk down the wall towards the river you get great alternative views of the tower through trees etc. We walked quite a distance around the walls and to be honest the views of the tower etc were the real highlights. The rest of the walk is through built up areas. If you are staying in Pisa you may want to do the whole walk, however if you are only in Pisa for a day, apart from the views and photo opportunities of the tower, cathedral etc I would give it a miss. I would like to point however that the staff who man the walls were very friendly and helpful.

If you want to get a different view of the Leaning Tower and other buildings on Piazza Miracoli I would highly recommend a trip up the city walls (mura). A bargain for €3. We didn't do the full route, as we are all really only in Pisa to see the tower aren't we? The entrance at the Piazza is the Torre Santa Maria - if you are facing the tower/duomo with the main footpath and shops/restaurants/Museo Sinopie behind you, the entrance is top left (north west) on the Piazza. (Map attached) The walkway on the walls is wide and well maintained. Fantastic!

I don't think it was an option to walk the city walls, last time I visited Pisa. In fact I was barely aware of them. However, if you walk to one corner of the main Piazza, close to the baptistery, there is an office where you can purchase a ticket for 3 Euros, allowing access to the walkway on top of the walls. There are 3km of wall for you to explore.
This makes for a very pleasant stroll and views over lush gardens, bustling markets, ancient ruins and the backs of houses as well as some different viewpoints on the famous tower, with its accompanying duomo and baptistery. All three buildings are exquisite and to view them across the tops of lush gardens with a backdrop of misty mountains is a real treat.
A great way to see Pisa.

I read in visittuscany website that the plan is to open the walls from From 21 May 2018 to 30 Nov 2018. But there does not seem to be any information on the web to confirm this.
1. Is this true?
2. where do you buy tickets and what are the hours of operation (last time to enter)
3. where are the entrance(s)?
4. Are you allowed to go in only one direction?
5. how long should we plan for this activity?
6. is there a brochure or official web site which has details?
This looks like such an interesting activity to see the Field of Miracles from a different perspective! We are planning to visit on Sunday Jul 29
kind regards

Vorrei segnalare quel commento.
