The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

Well,I like the Tower of Pisa because it leans on an angle of 80* and they need just a a little push.

I never thought I would climb the many steps to the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa – we were visiting on a sunny Wednesday morning in the middle of May When we arrived in the complex it was full of milling crowds – and on spec we went to the ticket office thinking we would only be visiting... So much has been heard & seen in pictures but this was our opportunity to see it first hand in person. Thee architecture was magnificent especially with the tower being made of white marble & shining in the bright sun. The surrounding museum, lawns & the castle walls gave the entire place a royal tinge. However one dampener are the... More

Easy to visit from other places. Near to the Pisa rossorio train station. Lots of tourists and long waiting to get to the tower. Just the piazza is worth a while visiting.

We caught the train from Venice to Pisa and then walked the 30 mins to the Tower. For such as huge tourist draw card you'd think that whoever holds the purse would at least keep the exit from the train station and the walk to the Tower in tip top shape. Sadly not. Lots of litter, over grown, gardens, graffiti... More

After seeing the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa in pictures and film all my life, it was a great experience to see it in person. It was smaller than I expected, but it was a beautiful tower. We posed for the required pictures holding up the tower. We didn't climb up to the top because we had limited time (and... More

Bit of a walk from the bus parking lot, finally through the arch and you see the leaning tower, quite amazing. Is only leaning now 5 deg they have straightened it up to make it safe for the next 300 years apparently. Quite surreal when you stand next to it. Can climb to the top but we didn't.

My husband and I visited here last week. I had been desperate to see the leaning tower for years. Its stunning! We booked our tickets online before going to save any disappointment on arrival to go up the top. You can book them when you are there but I wouldn't risk this as its so busy. It was 17 euro... Many spectacular sites were seen on our cruise down the Italian coast but the Leaning Tower of Pisa was the highlight. Not too busy around site allowing all the traditional pictures. Different areas accentuate the angle of the tower so wander around. Had a tour so walked into tower to climb steps to top. Great views and photos. A must... More

It's a steep climb up the 300+ steps and children under 8 aren't allowed but the views from the top are spectacular. There are limited admissions to the Tower so make sure you book the first available slot as soon as you arrive (or book online!).
