The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

It wasn't that cold and all of the tourists go in the summer. We got our slot/time/tickt for the tower and waited 15 minutes. An experience of a lifetime. As beautiful is the baptistery just around the other side of the Basilica.

You can't go to Italy and not go to the Leaning Tower. I deem it to be more famous than the colosseum in Rome. Lovely site to visit and despite the crowds, is even more peaceful because no street sellers can access the site - which is a welcome relief. Easy to access and a pleasure to visit.

We landed in Pisa for a family wedding, on route to the Villa we stopped here to view. It was well worth a visit and great to see first hand. It wasn't too busy when we arrived so we had the opportunity to walk around and take pictures. The only negatives and things to consider are: There are limited things... More

Bad experience...literally parked a block away from the Leaning Tower and whilst my back was turned to put money in the parking meter.....I was within 30 metres of my car....(what I didn't know was in those 3 minutes working out the parking meter) the boot of my car must have been accessed and a large suitcase, handbag and a daypack... We reached Pisa in the evening in our Tuscany tour bus and after a while at the Field of Miracles( where the leaning is Pisa is located along with the Dumo, etc. ) which is pretty square on its own.The lights came out and the tower looked stunning with the lights around it.The lean is not very pronounced. You need... More

We went in December and were lucky to have a fabulous clear day with blue skies and no crowds. We climbed the tower which is very unusual as you lean the wrong way to what you think you would. Reaching the top was worth it as we had opportunity to just sit and take in the views - wonderful. The... More

The most beautiful thing I've seen! Tickets are 18euros and they have specific timings to go in. You can buy tickets there itself, don't have to buy online. You can place your bags in a storage place for free so u can climb empty handed. Less than 300 steps to climb up so it's really manageable even for the slightly... More

Like many a tourist before me, I helped hold up the tower in my photo and gazed in some amazement at the tower. But 5 min later I was left thinking now what? There isn't all that much to do once you're done viewing the the tower. unless architecture is really your thing you'll be left with little to do... More
