It really is worth your time to do both towers! But watch out for the chimes! They are _really_ loud, and I almost dropped my phone over the edge when they rang!

Lovely town and this tower is very pretty. Also a marvel at how they had a hand winding mechanism in the 13th Century.

Plus you can see the internal mechanism of the clock. I happened to be heading down when the bells started ringing! Thank goodness. Not crowded like the Torre Guinigi with the same view except you will see the Torre Guinigi from up high!

The highest tower in the medieval Lucca was acquired by the local government in the 15th century to house the public clock. It is open for visiting and you can admire the mechanism of the clock and enjoy the beautiful views over the city.

We paid for the guinigi tower and got this tower for a few euros more and we actually preferred this tower. The views are amazing and the clock mechanism is fantastic, the bell actually went off whilst we were up There and it’s very loud.

Torre delle Ore offers a stunning panorama of the city from its top, and also some insights into the history of Lucca and the clock. You can also check out the clock mechanism.

I am one to never do this stuff because it always cost money, but for only a few Euro's it was worth it. I believe the climb is only around 270 steps so it's not too bad - pretty easy! When you get to the...More

The views from this tower are great and the climb is not horribly strenuous. my wife and I are senior citizens and managed just fine. But know that the bells ring on the hour and I think on the quarter hour. If you want a...More

Having bypassed the Guinigi Tower due to the queue we came across this little gem. €4 each and well worth it. Climbing the narrow stairs their are posters with the history of the tower and you see parts of the old clock mechanism. It is...More
