A nice, quiet, cool place to get out of the heat and enjoy the beautiful sanctuary. Simple decorations compared to many other churches. Little traffic so you could actually spend some time praying.

Beautiful building and very interesting facade. Surrounded by cute bars, cafes to sit outside and admire.

Walked into the church on a cool rainy day, which meant is was also cool in the church. Beautiful interior, paintings, tall ceilings, marble floors. And the outside architecture is highly detailed. This is a church a town could be proud of. Wonderful religious history!

I love this church, the facade is so beautiful, fully decorated and with many differing styles of columns and other decorative motifs, yet the body of the church seems practically naked, almost as though they had run out of steam or money or ...both, very...More

The artistry of the facade is stunning. If you have a zoom lens you'll be pleased, because every column is unique. The bottom level was designed by those who designed and built much of Pisa. If you have been to Pisa you'll see the similarity....More

Beautiful church with very elaborate facade, statue of Saint Michael on top. Impressive from the outside and quite strikes no inside as it is built on the Roman forum and has Roman elements in columns in and dome. Definitely worth stepping in. Quite memorable!

Lucca is full of old world buildings. This is one. I suggest several hours to stroll the cobblestone streets.

Unlike many others in Lucca, this Church is free to enter. Love the facade with St Michael up top. Inside are the usual frescoes but the best was the painted wooden cross of Jesus with eyes opened in triumph!

The essentially free standing facade is accessed by a stair visible from the sides of the church. Again worth a visit because of its interior and facade.

Stunning is how to describe this wonder Cathedral. If you visit the old walled town then you will see this church and many other fine buildings, all within walking distance. Just avoid early November when the Lucca Comic and Games festival is held every year....More
