Lots of places to rent bikes from. Start with cycling around the walls, then into the sites of the town.

A must in Lucca is the parkland that surrounds the city on its ancient walls. We biked a few times and walked. Thios is the superhighway I can tolerate.

We walked half way round the walls. This comprises a broad boulevard with trees along both sides for most of the way, so one is substantially in the shade. It is delightful, above the crowds, noise and traffic of the city.

The wonderful ancient wall that encircles Lucca is a great opportunity to get some exercise and see the sights. Our family of 5 grown people rented bikes for a wonderful leisurely ride around the city a couple of times. Some went fast, some went slow,...More

Wonderful view of the city inside and outside of the city walls. About 2.5 miles around. Lots of walkers, joggers and bicyclists. Great way to get some exercise while enjoying the views and people watching.

A great example of history come to life. Take time to go through the pedestrian entrances to truly appreciate how massive the wall is. If you have the time also take in the fortress at Montecarlo which was an advanced scout location for the city...More

A great way to see the gates and walls of the old city is to rent a bike or walk the walls. Great views of the old city and the surrounding area.

The city’s walls are a miraculous structure, built as a defensive rampart due to the constant threats from both sides, Florentine and Pisan. When the walls lost their military importance, they became a beautiful pedestrian promenade, encircling the whole town and lined with different tree...More

At least 2 bike hire places located close to the entry/exit points of the wall. Easy to spot in such a small town.
