About Accidental Tourist
The Accidental Tourist was born in the spring of 1998 offering the first single-day hands-on cooking class in Tuscany. We welcome the curious and open-minded traveler in the heart of our Tuscan home, for an authentic yet magical experience. We take a maximum of 8 people, but will go with as few as one: we never leave the solo traveler behind. We welcome families with children as we know how challenging it can be to travel with the young ones in the Old Country. AND, we charge for our tours only if our guests are happy to pay for their day with us.

Fantastic experience in Tuscany. We toured a beautiful winery and learned more about wine from a sommelier than on our previous three tours. The cooking class with Steve was a wonderful time. I had to search Rome but ended up bringing a pasta machine home. The dinner after the class was excellent. One of the better we had in the city. If you have the time, it is worth the time and cost.

I participated in this class first in 2018 and loved it so much I brought my parents with me this time (April 2022). We had an incredible experience! Majla has such a talent for bringing people of different experiences together for an evening of great food, laughter, and conversation. She made all of us feel welcome and comfortable. And even though I'd done the class before, she made sure I learned something new while making the pasta--and the food was incredible! I've only been home from my trip for 3 days and I've already made pasta using what I learned there. This is a must-do experience while in Tuscany!

This was absolutely the best excursion/activity of our trip. Visiting the winery was informative, full of beautiful scenario and the wine was delicious. The best part though was going to Majla and Marco's home. They treated us like family. The conversation was fun, the cooking class/lesson was absolutely one of the best I've ever done, and the atmosphere of the evening phenominal. We did this class with our two older teenagers who both agreed (not always an easy task) that this was one of the highlights of our two week trip. I cannot say enough good things about both Majla and Marco. I would recommend including Florence on your trip to Italy just to do this activity!

We connected with Majla a few months before our trip as we wanted to make a reservation November 1st, which is a national holiday. She promptly responded that she was available and was absolutely accommodating for our family of 2 parents with 2 adult (20+) age daughters. We had a delightful evening learning how to make pasta and enjoyed a personal evening dinner. Majla has lived in the US, had excellent English and had very interesting insights into cultural differences between Americans/Europeans and shared she thoughts on Italian culture. We really enjoyed our evening with her as well as the opportunity to stay in the tower. We are looking forward to receiving our olive oil and seeing her again in the future.

Highlight of our trip to Tuscany! We spent a wonderful afternoon and evening with our hosts and another couple that was visiting from Germany. The afternoon began with a drive through the Tuscan countryside to the Castello Volognano winery. There we were met by Iacabo, who gave us a very comprehensive tour of the Castle's wine cellars and provided us with a very interesting and informative talk about the Chianti wine region, as well as how the different types of wines are produced. We were able to sample of all their wines, which were incredible. We then proceeded to the home, where we were greeted with more wine. We made pasta, and ravioli from scratch. We then enjoyed a wonderful meal of what we had prepared, plus additional dishes prepared by our host, with of course more great wine. This was truly a wonderful experience. Our hosts were warm, friendly and made us truly feel at home. We thank Majla and Marco for their hospitality!
