Acclaimed since 1996 for our great guides and tours, we offer the original, small-group Best of Tuscany tour, as well as wonderful guided tours of Florence, Venice, Rome and the Cinque Terre. Our tours are high-quality, entertaining, informative and fun! We love sharing Italy on a more personal level and with our small group sizes, we refuse to make you feel like a tourist. Our highly-qualified guides are passionate, have a sense of humour and enjoy bringing history to life. They include historians, aristocrats, wine makers, art sleuths, well-known journalists, guide writers, as well as talented artists and authors. What’s more, we are an ASTA approved, fully-licensed tour operator. We promise we are anything but ordinary, and we guarantee we are the Original & Best.

Brenda gave us a wonderful walking tour of Florence! We are a couple in our 50s and neither one of us is a big "history buff" yet Brenda interspersed history with very interesting stories and facts to make the city come alive. We so enjoyed the tour and learned so much. Grazie molto!!!!

We booked the Original Florence Walk and we very much enjoyed this tour with our guide Brenda. She is extremely knowledgeable, energetic and personable, sharing her wealth of historical knowledge with our small group. The fact that we were provided with headsets was very helpful so that we could hear the guide's commentary even if we fell behind. Highly recommend!

Brenda, our tour guide, was incredible! She made me understand and appreciate art for the first time in my life. When we planned our trip, I was least excited for this day. When I look back, it was the best day I had. The works of art and history we were able to experience left me with an entirely new... More

I am a 74-year-old woman who went with two (!) others on a walking tour of Florence with ArtViva's guide Tatjana. I don't know which I found more wonderful, the sights we saw or our guide, who was so knowledgeable and informative about all that we were seeing. The Accademia , the Duomo, various piazzas---so much incredible art, architecture and... More

Had an excellent experience with this tour company. We had wonderful guides which is what made the experience 5 stars - Giueseppe and Klaus (I think? tall Dutch fellow - my memory fails me!). Siena was the highlight of the best of tuscany tour - we found San Gimignano and Monteriggioni to be a too touristy for our tastes -... More

My wife and I took the Sex, Drugs and the Renaissance Artviva walking tour in September. The group was small 7 people and our guide was Corina (I apologize if I've gotten the name wrong). the tour is a marvelous way to get a feel for the city, learn about the "untold" history of the renaissance, and see the neglected... My tour guides during this tour were Kane for the introductory walk through Florence, Angelo for the Academia and Michelangelo's David, and Brenda for the Uffizi Gallery. The guides were thoroughly knowledgeable and provided us with a wealth of information. I would highly recommend Artviva for your first visit to Florence, or 2nd or 3rd etc...First class, professional and well... More

We did the ArtViva Best of Tuscany tour earlier this month with a fantastic tour guide named Marissa. She was full of knowledge and enthusiasm, which helped turn a great tour schedule into a great experience.

Started out with a short ride to the vineyard just outside of Florence, we arrived at this beautiful estate on the hillside over-looking acres of grape vines. The wine maker took his time to explain the all the processes of wine making. Our guide did a wonderful job translating our questions and showing us around. We had a great time... More

Was such a great start to our stay in Florence! Our guide, Barbara was excellent, very lively and funny! She is very passionate about Florence and very knowledgeable! The group was small, which was perfect, only 10 of us. We hit some great squares and churches. And she added on a few food tips, like how to find good gelato... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
