We visited the church this evening at 9 pm for the organ music only to be told it was closing for the night and that there would be “no music forever.” I assume the person closing the entrance referred only to the evening performances.

The Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Ricci is a lovely Church on Via del Corso Piazza del Duomo in Florence. The start attraction here is the organ and the incredible music that emanates from it. Lovely!

My 16-year old daughter and I were walking aimlessly throughout Florence one evening after our 'American dinner' at the Hard Rock Cafe nearby, and I heard beautiful pipe organ music nearby. We followed the sound and ended up in this small church out of nowhere! What made it approachable was that it was open access and you could sit wherever you want, and stay as long as you want.
