While in Florence for a one day visit we had been to see the very crowded Ponte Vecchio over the Arno River. This gave us the opportunity to spend some time taking a close look at the river. It is a splendid, wide river which...More

This is the image that every traveller holds of Firenze, the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio. They take you back in time to when men and horses walked these cobbled streets, to when the Medici ruled ... Italy is like no other place on earth!

We went out for a late night stroll along the Arno after a very warm day in Florence. The heat haze had dissipated and the water reflected almost perfectly the bridges and buildings along this majestic river. We hope the photo that we uploaded of...More

It was a beautiful day when we visited and the river just looked so lovely. It has a large volume of water.

Alfred: [to Bruce] ..... I went to Florence, there's this cafe, on the banks of the Arno. Every fine evening, I'd sit there and order a Fernet Branca. I had this fantasy, that I would look across the tables and I'd see you there, with...More

But a very pretty one.You can gaze upon it from any of the bridges or walk along its banks. You should see it both at day and at night, which gives its own charm. Frequently there are rowers on the river. And by the way...More
