For various reasons, I have finished up spending quite a bit of time in Florence over the past twenty years or so. The city centre has changed extraordinarily over that time, as has its food culture, in terms of both restaurants and grocery stores. This latest period of residence has made me realise how much Florence, and Italy in general,... More

One of the coolest grocery stores I have ever been to. It's small but has tremendous character. You won't find many normal name brand items her. Almost everything is unique. Well worth a visit.

We came to know this place well, as it was close to our hotel. It has a huge selection of goods at a very good price. We were really impressed by the readiness of the delicatessen staff to make up sandwiches on the spot, according to our desires. Crusty bread, yummy cheeses and other goodies for lunch and dinner ...... More

Great little upscale grocery in the heart of the Duomo neighborhood! I found everything I needed from food, toiletries to spirits.

This is a great place if you want to buy some real Italian products. Cheese, meat, oils, pesto, they've got it all and more.

A delightful find in Florence, think Fortnum & Mason. Everything you could possibly need and more. Presentation is beautiful with traditional shelving and displays but not not overpriced, this place started business in 1860 so they know what they are doing,

I was in Florence for 6 weeks on business and, thus, had to shop for food and supplies. A friend recommended this store, certainly more upscale than the Conad or Carrefour Express. Prices are on the high side, but quality of their stock is higher, plus Pegna stocks items not found anywhere else in Florence. Also, this store stocks a... More

Close to the Duomo and arguably targeted at tourists. Many great high quality local produce and some nice imported items too. Good wine selection too. No the cheapest but an amazing selection.

Terrific onsite selection, great choices in city center of Florence. The cheese aisle ws well-stocked, and I was able to find just what I was looking for, right downtown.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
