We booked a full day with Helen B. of Freya's Florence -- I have gone with Helen before and really appreciated her deep knowledge of the renaissance period -- the art and the politics or florence-- and i really wanted to share that with my son -- Helen didn't disappoint!!!! (i knew she wouldn't) When your 17 year old teenager... More

My wife and I were visiting Florence for the first time, and decided to hire a tour guide to see the city. After reading the reviews of various tour companies, we decided to book with Freya's company. We were scheduled for a half day tour of Florence with Sara. Sara was, in a word, amazing. She was personable, knowledgeable, friendly,... More

We booked a full day private tour from Livorno, where our cruise ship docked; since our time was limited, we wanted to make the most of the brief visit. Our driver, Michele, was waiting for us, no problem. He was polite and accommodating, although don't expect any tour guide-type information; he sticks to driving. He delivered us to Suzanne, our... I was lucky enough to visit Florence with a friend who had previously toured this beautiful city with Freya. She insisted on having Freya introduce this city to me. Her tour was nothing short of inspirational. Her fascinating anecdotes combined with her passionate enthusiasm for art history brought Florence and the Renaissance period alive. As a design graduate I was... More

Freya is an unbelievably great tour guide. The breadth of her knowledge is astounding. A native Australian, she has lived in Florence fir 16 years. She brings life to the art and architecture she discusses and truly is meant for doing what she does. We were so fortunate to have her as our guide. My wife, 25 year old son... More

We took 3 tours, Sara was our Florence guide, Sasha was our Uffizi guide and Francesco was our guide for the Chianti road. Freya's is great and really well organized. We knew exactly what was going on and everyone was on time. Sara was incredibly knowledgeable and very passionate about Florence. It was a wonderful introduction to the city. Sashia... More

Our guide was Anne who was fantastic. She was very accommodating and looked to get our 7 year involved by counting animal statues as we visited historical sites. The tour was 3 hours and started with seeing the statue of David at the galleria. Highly recommend this tour as a way to quickly see all the main sites of Florence... More

We prearranged two tours with Freyas about a month before travelling to Italy. The first tour we did was the Florence overture tour with Helen. We started at the Accademia to see David and then took a stroll through Renaissance Florence. This tour was absolutely wonderful- Helen explained all the artwork and all the history and stories were so interesting.... More

My wife and four kids (17, 14, 11, 8) booked a Florence Overture Tour for Families with Joanna. We also included the Academia Gallery as part of the tour. Joanna did a great job engaging the kids for the three hours, offering 'find-it' games and talking to them in simple, but not demeaning, terms. There was SO much about the... More

We were lucky enough to book a last-minute "Florence Overture" tour with Freya's Florence Tours. Our guide Sarah was truly amazing - extremely knowledgeable, and very passionate about her city and its history. It was honestly one of the best experiences we had while in Florence. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting for the first time. So much... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
