If you were in Florence and you have not visited this piazza, it means you weren't in Florence. The fountain, the sculptures and Palazzo Vecchio will take you some centuries back. Don't miss David and other masterpieces by Michelangelo and other masters of ancient times. David is copy, but all other sculptures are originals. Restaurants on this Piazza are all... More

Restaurants around the square are excellent - very atmospheric at night. Staues are fascinating - from Roman to Renaissance.

It is a very busy Piazza but I am also to blame as I have been part of my lecture group a few times in the last month... just enjoy a stroll around and be aware of pickpockets.

Just to see the Palazzo Vecchio and the outdoor statutes is worth a visit to my favorite place to hang out in Florence

The heart of Old Florence, the piazza is still alive today with music, art, tourists, and a few pickpockets (watch out for the "clowns"). There are magnificent sculptures (and replicas of famous sculptures) right off the square, not to mention a few museums, too. But I would recommend not eating right on the square -- instead go a few blocks... More

Staying in Uffizi

Neighbourhood Profile
Uffizi
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.
