Love Duets’ Concert: you do not have to be a lover of Italian Opera to enjoy this wonderful evening. It’s set in a small church from 1800’s. You have a piano, soprano & tenor performing Opera’s love song and Italian love songs. The setting and performance is overwhelmingly powerful. You’ll be moved to tears by the emotions. Not to be missed.

Having pre-booked four tickets to see La Traviata we had mixed expectations. After all, an adapted version for only four singers is an ambitious project. However, we were thrilled and delighted by some wonderful operatic moments; Violetta's (Chiara Panacci) controlled and expressive coloratura, Alfredo's (Maurizio Marchini) plaintive and beautiful rendition of 'Amore, Amore', the thunderous 'squillo' of Giorgio's (Lisandro de... An amazing night out in Florence. La Traviata in four acts with great singers and a fabulous narrator. The setting is wonderful, a church just south of the Ponte Vecchia, you sit very close to the singers and feel part of the performance. The whole experience was marvellous, we would highly recommend this to anyone, opera lover or not. We... More

For what it is, the opera at St. Mark's is pretty wonderful. We were just 5 minutes late and it created such an interruption, but the cast were comical about it. The church is beautiful and the people were warm and friendly. We'll be visiting again the next time we are in Firenze :)

This was our first opera and was a wonderful experience. We saw La Boheme in 4 acts, before each act the narrator explained the scene before it was played out, which was very helpful and entertaining in itself. There was a brilliant atmosphere and the singers were fantastic, we will definitely go again when next in Florence, could not recommend... More

We booked tickets to La Boheme before we arrived and although we wouldn't be massive opera fans we enjoyed the experience. The opera was being run for a good cause and although it was being run on a limited budget, the singers were excellent. For the price we paid it was well worth the visit.

We went to the Opera at St Mark's twice during the week we were in Florence, to see La Traviata and La Boheme, and thoroughly enjoyed the productions. It is a very intimate experience, with minimalist sets and costuming, and the church setting is very charming. The singers and pianist were excellent. As long as one isn't expecting a full-blown... It is definetly a good way to introduce one person in the world of Opera, by exposing him/her to one of the most renown arias, like Traviata, Madamme Butterfly, etc. I went once with some friends and it was for sure a nice experience: the music, the church, the atmosphere.

This was absolutely brilliant! We were given seats on the front row presumably because we had booked very early but this was a wonderful experience. The singers were very professional and the music was lovely. So image being on the front row, a couple of feet, or less away from the singers who at one point were singing to us!... More

I bought tickets for the New Year's Eve event as a surprise for my Fiancee. I thought the highlights show would be a good introduction to Opera. We are, by no means, Opera buffs, but appreciate wonderful music, stunning voices and a venue full of atmosphere and charm. The Opera at St. Mark's simply has all these in abundance. You... More

Staying in Pitti

Neighbourhood Profile
Pitti
Pitti is a neighborhood characterized by art and history. Renaissance architecture such as Pitti Palace, which houses five museums alone, introduces visitors to the green lungs of spectacular Boboli Gardens. Any visitor can wander through statues, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Around the garden, treasures like the Museum of Natural History of the Specola and Villa Bardini guide guests through Florence as the cradle of the Renaissance. End the day with an aperitif in Piazza della Passera or the more romantic Forte di Belvedere, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.
