- Sharron S25 contributionsWonderful but plan.We Pre booked our tickets so no problem with access. I think it’s important to recognise that this gallery has some of the most famous paintings in the world therefore if seeing them is important to you think about your timings . We went early and consequently had no difficulty in seeing what we wanted to see easily ie The Birth of Venus more or less by ourselves. Another tip plan before you go. Work out what you want to see otherwise its easy to get overwhelmed. Ps The toilets are some of the poshest I have ever used Green marble abounds!Visited December 2022Written 11 December 2022
- ScoobyDooIlkley, United Kingdom27 contributionsOrganisation is poorOn a very rainy day we weren't impressed at having to stand for quite a long time in what turned out to be the wrong queue for pre-booked tickets. The entry organisation is poor and the staff aren't helpful. Immediately upon entering, you're sent to the top floor and quite a few elderly tourists were obviously struggling with the flights of stairs so more signposting to lifts (if there are any) would have been useful. Once in, the Renaissance paintings are stunning, if you're into a lot of biblical scenes. The colours are glorious. The sculptures were truly impressive. However, the signage about the paintings is poor with no explanation of the story behind the art or the meaning of the picture. It's definitely not inclusive and a lot of the art portrays torture and sexism. Time for a rethink?Visited December 2022Written 12 December 2022
- MisaKSSeattle, Washington10 contributionsReserve Your Ticket in Off Season to Avoid CrowdsWe reserved an 8:30 am entry into the gallery in early November, and this was a good move. For any given artwork, even for the most popular ones by Botticelli, there were only a handful people competing for the best spot to view and take pictures. The Botticelli paintings were as magnificent as I thought they would be and utterly beautiful! I am glad that we were able to avoid elbow-to-elbow situations. There are so many pieces of art to see at Uffizi, so you should have a list of your must-sees before you start touring this place. Even then, you could easily spend two hours here, but it is well worth your time.Visited November 2022Written 17 December 2022
- CherylcatFresno, California5 contributionsUffizi is a must see!Going to this gallery would take days to see each piece and read about it. We used Rick Steeve’s one day and the gallery headphones the next and we all agreed the Rick Steeves walk was better and much more informative. To see DaVinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli and others up close cannot be described—it’s magical. Best adjective. Lots of walking and killer stairs but this is a must see on any Florence visit. Wait till you see the red room.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 December 2022
- Lynn B1 contributionEasy to get ticketsIt was easy to find the person to get our tickets. The directions were very clear. It was with the extra fee to have a reservation. I wish they had been more clear with what line to stand in to go into the museum. We waited 15 minutes in the group line along with a bunch of other people who were sent to the incorrect line.Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 January 2023
- ArtsyGalBaltimore813 contributionsViewing Strategy at the Uffizi, Fewer for greater appreciationReserved tickets online and a breeze to pick up and enter early in mid-December. Had taken three classes with Elaine Ruffolo online, so focused on fewer paintings for longer viewings. By noon, museum was jammed. Returned a second day and took advantage of scarce tourists on the second floor to enjoy quiet with Uffizi masterpieces, using the guidebook to hit the most recognized. Two hour visits isn't sufficient, but the soul is enriched. Museum staff most helpful I encountered in Italy.Visited December 2022Written 3 January 2023
- DeGeestster25 contributionsImpressive experienceRecommended to pre- book your tickets online, it will save you lots of time waiting in queue. The gallery itself is amazing. There is so much to see and to learn, you can easily spend 2-3 days if you want to see each piece individually. In hindsight we wished we’d booked a guide, as we found that we’d want to know more about certain pieces, and the descriptions were too minimal. Also, we had a 1pm ticket… it was very busy in the galleria. Maybe that an earlier timeframe would have been less busy?Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 January 2023
- Ted KChicago, Illinois51 contributionsJustifiably famous and crowded. You can easily spend an entire day here and you would just scratch the surface of the stunning art that is on display. It is always packed and I would strongly suggest that you purchase access with a local guide or tour group. If you insist on going alone or with your significant other, BOOK AHEAD ONLINE and do not lose the confirmation email. Be prepared for endless crowds and walkig up and down numerous flights of stairs. Nevertheless, going to Florence and not stopping by the Uffizi is incomprehensible. The amount of amazing art work and sculpture on display is worth the hassle and crowds.Visited January 2023Written 9 January 2023
- Sagar PTampa, Florida6 contributionsAmazing collectionWe loved he gallery. I wish there were more rest areas to sit and contemplate. Also few vending machines for water and small dry food items would have been nicer. Gallery is so huge that one needs to rest often.Visited December 2022Written 12 January 2023
- Arthur MHamilton, Canada1,038 contributionsPerfectly visual description of what Renaissance is aboutThe gallery hosts an amazing amount of quantity and quality of artwork during the Renaissance. You can spend hours appreciating the beauty of the artworks within the museum. Also outside are statures of those who significantly contributed to the Renaissance. That was a great touch.Visited December 2022Written 15 January 2023

This is a beautiful museum that rivals the Louvre (I like it better!). Michelangelo, da Vinci, Raphael, Caravaggio, Botticelli…and on and on. So many brilliant works to behold in an exquisite setting.

We purchased the combination ticket online for the Uffizi/Pitti Palace/Boboli Gardens. It was fairly easy to find Door 3 where we exchanged our online voucher for the actual tickets before walking to Door 1 to enter the museum. We purchased the audio guide (6 euros) and found it to have good explanations about quite a few of the exhibits but oddly none on the 1st floor. Signs explaining each of the exhibits are in both Italian and English if there is no audio listed. Even though we had read that two hours was enough to see the museum, we spent 3 hours there.

The statue of David was the most impressive but for those interested in Italian art or in grand, beautiful architecture this is a must-see. Try to avoid the crowds by pre-booking a ticket and time and if you can go during the week.

Knowing we were going to visit Florence I decided to look into the various tours etc that were available. I came across the official web-site where you could get an annual pass for the whole family for about £86. It is valid for 12 months from the day you pick it up and gets you into the Uffizi Gallery, Boboli Gardens and the Pitti Palace. Obviously the Stars are the Botticelli’s in the Uffizi, but the gardens are beautiful and the palace magnificent. We are slightly obsessed with the history of the Medici, so it was a must. If you think it’s going to get you into the Duomo or other big tours it won’t BUT it did get us past the big queues for these places with justly a flash of the card (and some ID at the Uffizi. I felt quite smug knowing what we had paid and we can go back and take our kids as many times as we can get to Italy and Florence in the next 12 months. Well worth a look.

I'm not into art very much so the Uffizi was probably the wrong place for me to visit - row after row of marble heads, rooms full of renaissance paintings - the only painting I wanted to see was Botticelli's Birth of Venus - and due to the awful layout of the gallery I never did see it! I got lost a few times wandering back & forth through countless rooms until I eventually found a stairway exit - I'd had enough - so left and waited for my partner outside. Not for me I'm afraid.

If you are on your own and know the art you want to see-go in the afternoon. This way you will beat the crowds, somewhat. Don’t get me wrong-it is still crowded around the more popular pieces of artwork, but overall less congested. The building is massive and gorgeous. You pay for the ticket on one side and then have to exit and cross to the other side to gain entrance.

Visited the Uffizi during a recent holiday in Firenze.
We booked a timed visit in advance but still had to queue to exchange a voucher for the actual tickets. We then had to queue again to enter the gallery and proceed through security.
Once in the building it seemed like we were being herded like animals through the gallery following a one way system rather than being allowed to plan our own route. They obviously wanted people to start on the second floor and work their way down.
The whole experience was in no way relaxing and you couldn’t get close to the paintings or sculptures due to the crowds. I did wonder whether most of the visitors just wanted to take selfies for posting to social media rather than admire the works of art. On a positive note there were plenty of seats available to rest your weary legs after climbing the stairs.
We left after an exhausting 2 hours and felt quite disappointed by the whole experience.

Obviously a must-see in Florence! It wasn’t too busy and we were amazed at how close we could get to the paintings. We got to stand right in front of and admire the birth of Venus for a long time without much trouble. It is a bit of a labyrinth so don’t be afraid to ask where things are if you have a specific painting or sculpture in mind. Definitely set aside a few hours if you enjoy art (we spent almost four).

The sheer crowds in some of the galleries (even in rainy November!) make this famous place lose some stars, in my book. We didn't even try to get near the Botticelli paintings from behind a scrum of people, all with phones aloft.
My tips would be:
Book online for a definite entrance time; this cuts down on the queueing.
Go to the galleries of later 16th century (don't miss Kranach's wonderful Adam and Eve) or 17th century art. These were less crowded on our visit.

Dovremmo visitare la Galleria con una persona molto anziana e vorremmo sapere se funziona l'aria condizionata. Grazie e buona giornata.

Certo che c'è, all'interno si sta bene
I have booked a family annual Passepartout for the Uffizi and associated attractions, do I need to book a reservation slot with this pass or just join the priority entry queue when we want to go? Advice online is vague. Thanks!

We booked a 5 day Passepartout and booked a slot for entry to the Uffizi then went along 30 minutes beforehand to collect it from the priority booking queue. We booked for a 945 a.m. entry in midOctober and queued for 10 minutes to collect the tickets. We could walk in for our slot through the priority door but then had to queue inside for 20 minutes. Otherwise it was quiet enough in the museum for the first hour.. You have to visit the Uffizi first to activate your ticket. P.S go to the rooftop cafe early!

You can purchase a ticket through viator which is a British company. I am Canadian and paid 20 euros a ticket. That included skip the line but tours were more.
