I visited Florence in mid March and along with my mother-in-law spent a fascinating and informative few hours at a workshop in the charming 'Antica Erboristeria San Simone'. After a brief talk about the background of the shop (based in Florence since 1700) and an introduction to the history and art of perfumery, we took a break and enjoyed being served tea and biscuits. Then under the watchful (and expert) eye of Dr. Fernanda Russo and assisted by Carmen, we began the captivating process of creating our own perfume. An hour or so later, the icing on the cake was being presented with a beautifully packaged 50ml bottle of our exclusive and unique scent and a signed certificate. A copy of our perfume formula is kept and we can reorder it from home. We both walked out of the shop with our chic little bags and smiles on our faces. We both really enjoyed the whole experience and I cannot recommend it enough

Great shop full of perfumes made by the master perfumer "The Nose"
We saw this place on tv and thought we would give it a go while on our honeymoon.
We were given the very interesting history of the workshop
My wife made a perfume with the master, she smelt all different oils and was shown how many drops to add of each for the perfect mix which you write down.
It was all really interesting and a great experience and now just to wait 15 days for it to settle and be ready to use, smells amazing already though.
They keep your name and the mix on file so that when you run out, if you want it again you can just email them and ask for another and they will mix it up and ship your fragrance to you!

The custom perfume making workshop is one of the best travel experiences that I've ever had anywhere. You learn the history of San Simone Erboristeria (dating from 1700!) as well as the history of perfume. Did you know that the gladiators used it profusely? :-) Then Dottoressa Russo, who is professionally known as a "nose," explains the process, has you sniff about 30 different fragrances for you to choose from, and makes recommendations as to the correct proportions to blend them. You go home with your very own bottle of bespoke perfume as well as the recipe for your blend. Later on, if you want more, you send the recipe to her, and she will send you a new bottle. This is a totally fascinating, relaxing experience that is perfect for a break from sightseeing. Highly recommended!

This is a practical workshop that they do a few times a week to actually tech you to make organic cosmetics!! They teach u to make creams for the body and a light cream for the face and it is all organic!!!! I would definitely recommmend it to anyone!!! And would go there again.

This shop was tucked away down one of the side streets. It smelt lovely as we entered and the lady selling the products was very helpful with regards to the vast range of perfumes and diffuser's on sale.

Very interesting perfume creation experience, the girl who welcomed us and introduced us to the world of perfume was very kind and very knowledgeable. The choice of notes is very funny.

We followed a perfumery course, despite the large number of participants it was a beautiful experience, Doctor Fernanda and her staff involved us and surrounded us with a thousand fragrances, it is clear that they carry out this activity with dedication and love, it was exciting to create the perfume choosing from your favorite essences,
There is something to improve, so that this experience is even more unique and attracts even more people,
my suggestion is to improve the display of the products in the shop, I would have also purchased something else, create groups for the course with a limited number of max 10, 15 people, so that the doctor and her staff can dedicate more time to each one, telling and sharing their experience.
