This unique Florentine piazza is the center of the artisan quarter. Dominated by the last masterpiece of Brunelleschi, the Basilica of Santo Spirito, the square is home to little local markets and antique fairs.

Nice evening hang out zone, Volume cafe was well sound bluesy ambient chilling, then there was a random semi-legit underground club somewhere nearby, dancing under an archaic vaulted arch was good.

Of the many great squares in Florence this was our favorite and definitely for the Oltrano area. Several very good restaurants, the San Spiritu Chruch has excellent art, great people watching and relaxed atmosphere.

What a great find. Great little cafe and gelato. Walk around and enjoy the shops. Nice to explore a different side of Florence.

Choose any coffee with view at the square, order a cafe latte and a tiramisu and watch the italian at home, it is a great feeling, specially at night

Go here to get authentic, reasonably priced meals! Don't look for dinner around the Duomo area of Florence. Lots of great restaurants here.

unless you are visiting the Pitti Palace there is very little for tourists to see in this part of Florence - better to spend time on more popular sites

Course we hung out in a lot of places while in Italy to simply eat and drink since, when we were not touring, we were either sleeping or eating and drinking. This was one of many amazing places to just hang out a bit.

A warm evening with a cocktail in your hand and great
company is the ideal way to experience Piazza Santo
Spirito; the area is busiest at sunset for happy hour.
Visitors cannot hide their astonishment sitting on the
staircase under the Basilica of Santo Spirito, and
they cannot help but stare at the architectural
masterpieces like Bianca Cappello House, Fontana dello
Sprone and San Frediano in Cestello and Santa Maria

I guess you are referring to the Basilica di Santo Spirito. The Basilica has intermittent tourist opening times and when we visited in May these were 9.30AM till 12.30PM and 4.00PM to 5.30PM but these are not always adhered... More

Santa Spirito is not far from the main areas. At Santa Spirito you can find a good mix of locals and tourists. There are great restaurants over there. On certain days there is also a market. We loved the atmosphere there.
