This is a small historical town. We were there for an hour. Could have stayed longer easily. There are some great views. Shopping is easy as the town is about 10 blocks by three. It is known for pecorino cheese and cheese tasting is everywhere. Other shops include leather, ceramics and more. We were very impressed by the Italian leather... More

The Chianciano Express mini train stops at the fountain, but it is easy to walk in and stroll around. There are narrow streets, scenic views, churches, cafes, small shops and explanatory boards about the writer Luigi Pirandello who stayed and set two short stories here.

Pienza is an amazing and cute ancient village, small but something you cannot miss in the area. You should go to its Duomo, visit the main church and the caves in its basement. You should travel around the village and get lost in the tiny streets and the small shops it offers. There are good artists selling their works and... More

We spent five nights in the quaint UNESCO city of Pienza, using it as a base for visiting other locations in Tuscany. The historical centre of Pienza is fascinating. Its one main street has numerous alleyways leading off both sides. One side leads to the city walls where pleasant views of the Tuscan countryside can be seen. A slow walk... More

Old town of Pienza is really small, just one main street and very crowded. If you need to buy souvenirs do it here. Plenty of places with cool pottery, wine, cheese shops. A tip- people don't really speak English. Bring a dictionary.

Nothing special. Not really worth the stop. Consider it as a tourist trap. South of pienza is a giant oak considered to be thousand years old. This is worth a stop

Pienza is known as the "Ideal City". It looks like a Tuscan painting complete with a walking path around it. It was easy to find parking and we had a very large van!! It was relaxing strolling the streets and taking in the charm of this small town. We stopped for pizza at Pummaro and had a gelato at the... More

This is definitely a place to visit whether by bus tour or car. There were approx 7 bus loads as well as numerous cars when we visited, we were still able to tour the town with a push chair, without feeling that it was too crammed. It had an amazing feel about the place, there has been a lot of... More

Came to Pienza having done almost no research. It is lovely. Lonely Planet would have you believe it is jam packed with tourists and is not very complimentary. We loved it. Beautiful Renaissance town. Some tourists for sure but not heaving and once you get off the main street it is really quiet. Well worth a visit.
