About
The Pupillo Farm, founded in 1908, occupies a large part of the land which once constituted the fief of Targia, famous not only for the medieval Solacium castle but also for the fertile soils which give a unique taste and scent to a variety of products: wines, olive oil, fruits and vegetables. The courtyard in front of the castle, the cozy and elegant interior court, the old millstone and the historic garden can be visited in conjunction with a wine tasting.

The setting is really nice, and the service was good.

Unfortunately every person in the group was overcharged. We ended up paying for more adults and more children than attended, none of the receipts seemed to correspond to prices. the last person to pay had to settle a large bill which when you add up all others means we paid for too many people

Left a real sour taste and cannot recommend

Hello Dave, That's quite sad to read! Please could you find the time to explain better what happened? I just need to know the name associated with the booking and the date of your wine tasting, so I can track back what we sold that day and if there's any inconsistency with payments. We take this matter very seriously. Thanks! (You can also write to me directly using info@cantinepupillo.it, if you prefer) Sebastiano

The location is fantastic but the organization really leaves something to be desired. At 7pm the queue was 3 non-delineated serpentines long which created great chaos. People were clearly not following the queue.

After 1.5 hours in line we arrived at the checkout and discovered that the cutting boards were finished. We therefore opted for a children's menu to accompany with wine and €5 included a micro piece of pizza and a drink.

The place and the products are very good and should be promoted but in this way credibility and professionalism are dramatically lost, I would rather have foreseen a limited number.

Salve è capitato in passato di non saper prevedere bene in anticipo l'affluenza di una serata, e così probabilmente è stato nel caso da lei segnalato. Ci scusiamo per il disagio arrecato.

We decided to visit this winery while we were staying in the area and Sebastiano was extremely welcoming ,hospitable and informative and gave us a light lunch to mop up the wine we tasted even though we didn’t pre-book.
The family owned small winery is complemented by the fabulous castle, ancient courtyard and mature gardens which are stunningly beautiful.I can imagine they are a superb venue for weddings which are held here throughout the summer months.

I found Pupillo Wines looking for a wine tasting during our holidays in Sicily. I found some great reviews and I am so happy they were absolutely true.

After a quick right turn on the main road (don’t miss the small blue sign!) you drive through the estate towards the castle. We were a bit too early and got offered a coffee and were shown the garden to walk around before the tour starts.

After a few minutes in the botanical garden we started the tour with Sebastiano and two other guests. He is very passionate about his wines and his family owned estate. It’s very nice to hear him talk about the history of the castle and his great grandparents. There is also plenty of time to ask questions.

We saw the garden, the estate, the old and new winery. As soon as the lunch was ready we had the lunch and wine tasting in between.

The lunch was amazing! We paid only 35 Euro for the tour and tasting and we thought we would get a bit of antipasti. We had so much food! Cheese, sausages, omelette, potato-pizza, tomato salad and even more. We tasted a white wine, Targetta Bianco, which I found very tasty and also a red wine, Nero d’avola, which wasn’t as wooden as many of the ones we had tasted before. Than we got offered the Sicilian dessert Canolli, so tasty!, with their Moscato wine. Best moscato wine I tasted.

We bought two bottles, the prices are reasonable.

If you like good wines, hearing the history of the winery explained by the owner itself in an open and informal atmosphere, this is an absolute must!

I’m sorry to say this wasn’t as great as I expected it to be.
We arrived 10 minutes early and found no one around so we wandered around until some other guests told us to wait in the garden.

10 minutes later than scheduled we met the guide, who I assume was Sebastian, but he didn’t introduce himself.

Interesting history of the farm and area, but no explanation or information specifically about the winemaking, which is what i was expecting.

Lunch was great but again no explanation about the wine we weren’t given- eg what it was called even.

After lunch everyone seemed to just get up and wander off. We weren’t sure if the tour was over or what was happening. No conclusion or goodbye.

I don’t mean to sound negative, it is a beautiful place, but as a winery visit and wine tasting, I don’t think it delivered.

Dear guest I'm sorry the experience did not lived up to your expectations. I'm just the owner, not a professional guide, I don't have a pre-made speech and usually my guests are an active part of the presentation. I would have been very happy to answer your questions about winemaking. I hope your stay in Siracusa has been great. Cheers

We really enjoyed our visit here. Sebastiano was friendly and very informative. He gave us a very interesting talk about the history of the castle and gardens, before the tasting of 3 wines with pairings of food for each one.
We arranged the visit ourselves and had taxi there and back from Siracusa for 50 euros .
All in all good value and enjoyable tour.

We had a genuinely breathtaking experience at Azienda Pupillo. Their property and botanical garden is out of this world. The lunch they offer is better than at most restaurants. The owners are extremely friendly and the wine tasting will please all your senses. There is nothing that could have been better. Highly recommend taking a tour at Pupillo if you are looking for a lovely and relaxing experience in a picturesque setting.

The main building is a castle, and there is also a very nice garden there. My friends and I were served a fantastic lunch. The young couple who run this "azienda" makes very good wine!
