A really big ear!

The place is an old quarry - the area is honeycombed with them. The acoustics are marvelous and it's a great cool spot on a hot day.

Very poor signage, and only two out of 5 places open. The ear and Greek temple. Roman amphitheater, St Nicholas church and grottos all close..price was still10€. My final gap...and this is not normal for me...the ticket office is literally 500 metres away fom the front nutraceuticals. I asked a number of the attendants who all said it was stupid...and... interesting place and with good sound effects, worth a visit, the gardens around it were closed due to a film crew

Been a few weeks since I visited the cave. There is no control, it's free to walk into and out of, which I personally like. Perhaps some lighting inside would show off the amazing structure that this place offers, because it's way bigger than you may imagine. And the acoustics are amazing, to say the least. Worth visiting!

The Ear of Dionysius is part of the Parco Archeologico della Neapolis which also includes the Greek Theatre and Roman Theatre and the ticket of 10 Euros is for the whole park. The ticket office is quite far away – it is hidden beyond a street market of souvenirs stores and is about 3-4 minutes’ walk from the site’s entrance.... More

This looks like a ginormous cave. It is worth wondering round and trying to use your phone to light up the walls that seemed to go up and up No information whatsoever - so read up about this first - an amazing feat of human endeavor getting to the ear is interesting as you meander around paths and groves of... Make sure you have a guide to explain everything because it will all make better sense. The history and this cave is very unique. The single echo in the cave is also something unique to experience. Worth a visit.

The actual Ear is within the archeological area of Syracuse, which is a verdant beautiful piece of land populated by lemon and orange trees. We didn't have a guide and as other reviewers have noted, there isn't much in the way of information. We would have liked to have known exactly how the Greeks carved out the amazing cave structure... no sense seeing this site without a guide. No explanations anywhere. Having said that, the stories are fascinating.

Do not go without a guide to explain what everything means. Otherwise it seems like a cave and "so what". But, when its explained you will be amazed.
