Very informative well laid out displays in small charming space (ex-convent?) by passionate individual-make the subject fascinating. Film at start of visit as well as free booklet in English accompanying tickets rounded off a great experience. The wee shop was not overmerchandising (refreshing!) but might have benefited itself and visitors more if it had better postcards and or a greater... More

You can see the passion for history in this place. Although small, the museum is filled with photograps and exhibits showing the works on re-discovering the ways papyrus was used. There was also a docummentary playing in English, Italian and German about the history of the place and the historical community. Worth seeing

I had read about this museum on trip advisor but it didn't appear on my to do list. We came across it quite by chance and I was pleasantly surprised. The guide book and notations were in English plus there was a dvd in English too. The subject of papyrus does seem dull but I enjoyed the visit and have... More

In the museum there is a wonderful film in English that traces the history of papyrus and its production. It also shows the process that must take place to unlock the content of ancient scrolls...fascinating. I loved seeing the instruments, brushes and the pots of ground color used for writing as well as the papyrus boats (small) used on Lake... More

A lovely & fascinating little museum with lots to see including papyrus boats. Of tremendous importance because of the efforts of the world renowned curator who has revolutionised the way papyrus is reconstructed and is lauded world wide for his efforts.

I had never given much thought to the origins and uses of papyrus but this little museum was fascinating. It had good exhibits and a video in English to explain much about the history of papyrus, originally brought to Sicily from Egypt and to be found growing in Fonte Aretusa in Ortigia. Watch out for old maps that show the... More

The history of the beginning of "pre-paper" is here in a small and excellent modern and informative museum. Extremely well thought out with excellent displays makes this a great 30 to 45 minute visit to a lovely space with a unique topic to share.

In less than an hour, your historical perspective will expand considerably. Small, specific, highly effective in its display. Nice building, great location. And the kids liked it!

Don't miss this most interesting little museum. We had no idea about the origins of papyrus and its connection to Siracusa. Beautifully presented and very detailed explanations....
