We managed to arrive just after the tour had left but we were joined to them quite quickly by a member of staff. The tour is given first in Italian and then in English and the guide was ok to answer a few questions. The...More

My wife and I visited the Catacombs in Siracusa during a two-week vacation in Sicily. They are entered via a walkway next to the ruins of the 14th century Basilica (Chiesa di San Giovanni). Unfortunately, we were told when we tried to pay for an...More

Firstly the sight of the church is a surprise, most unexpected given the area. Then you join a tour of the catacombs which is very interesting - our guide spoke both Italian and English. You have to be guided for reasons that are obvious once...More

It is necessary to go on an organised visit to the catacombs but they are very regular. I didn't expect such a labyrith of tunnels, spaces for the dead etc. It was an impressive tour with a good guide. The frescos of St Paul and...More

The 3 ladies at the reception were busy with themselves. We had the impression to disturb as a tourist. The guidance was very monotonous and lasted only 35 minutes. Questions were not really wanted. Photography not allowed. Pity to present such an interesting place so...More

It is well worth getting here before the tour times as a queue can build up. The tour itself is well organised, very informative and interesting. The size of the catacombs is very impressive even though you only visit a small portion of them.

Who doesn't love a nice catacombe? This one consists of a paid tour, a few euros, and about 30 minutes. We walked through a somewhat vast labyrinth of little tombs while the guide explained in English and Italian the particulars of each 'attraction.' We learned...More

I have been to a few catacombs but these are some of the best I have seen. They are fast and are escorted tours which are very informative. A must see x

We had read about this in TA as well as some research we'd done ahead of our trip. This is another world underground! The mere idea of this mass burial site is mind boggling. Religious and the wealthy had the best burial spots. The religious...More
