Our starting point was 1 km further along the main road, 800 m of dirt road and there is the parking lot.
The Cassibile-Carrubella walk. 1 loop with A and B side, we walked a round in 1h40 with an 11 year old child.
We started on the right via side B, via side A you walk back up with stairs, which was useful because of the height difference.
Very nice walk of just over 5 km.
Time flew by, wish it could have lasted longer.
We didn't think this was a difficult walk at all.
The heat was absent in February, nice sun around 19 degrees.
Put on good shoes, water, picnic and enjoy.

Hike to do +++
Paid parking (4€) with small drink + food stand at the entrance (very useful for the return :))
Advice :
- You must have good shoes and enough water,
- Start the hike in the morning: around 9:30 a.m./10 a.m. MAX to be calm for swimming.
- Bring water shoes to avoid slipping.
From 12 p.m., this is when people arrive.
To get there, it was quick (45 min max).
The return takes around 1h05 with small breaks.
We left around 2 p.m., a little difficult... the sun was strong, and few shaded areas!

Beautiful but unsafe place, no supervision by the reserve staff, no refreshment area, intervention in case of need is difficult, especially due to the difficulty of reception and immediate intervention because you would have to go back up to ask for help. I would recommend equipping the workers with audio transmitters and placing at least three stations along the route. The use of two or three security guards at the entrance to provide simple route directions, i.e. the choice of the path to follow, seems wasteful to me.

A difficult walk with terrific pools at the base of the gorge. We (couples in late 40s and early 50s with teen kids) did this walk mid morning on a hot day. Walk down took c 45 mins and the pools were amazing. Walk up took a bit more than an hour. Was tough in the heat. Definitely take water with you. Nice to get some cool drinks at the top from a small cafe. Worth it but you need a r decent level of fitness if it’s hot.

Beautiful area.
Access to the park complicated in small cars, the road is in very poor condition. We parked 1.7km away and walked.
The guard is very friendly, he informs us that the park is officially closed, and that the descent is our entire responsibility.
30 minutes to go down, 45 minutes to go back up, you need good shoes and be in good shape.
We arrived at 8:30 a.m., there was no one there.
We left at 12 p.m. and there were people there, without it being a crowd either.
Swimming is very pleasant, bring aqua shoes so you don't slip on the rocks.
Free access.

Had a truly amazing trip to Cavegrande. Was worried about the walk but it was really no problem for 4 of us including a 7 & 11 yr old.
Is essentially a 2k walk downhill (40mins) thru amazing scenery and then you come to the most idyllic setting of ravines and waterfalls. The water was absolutely gorgeous and some great jumps for the kids.
The walk back up was slightly more arduous but took less than an hour and was more than worth it for the natural scenery.
& it didn’t cost a penny, which is almost unheard of on holiday.
Loved it.

Wonderful landscape, a bit demanding walk, but it is worth to take effort to get and swim there. Beautiful pools, cold, refreshing water, especially during hot summer days is a pure pleasure...I expected to be crowded but it wasn't (Late July visit)

It is, indeed, a beautiful place, but you must be well equipped. We went there in June, 2013, it was already hot outside, and I got quite sick at returning (not a nice experience..). You must have appropiate shoes, enough water, something to cover your head, and be prepared for a long walk (about 2-3 km till the small lakes, on a difficult road..). I would not recommend this place for families with children (the road is not easy). Oh, and no bathrooms on the road!

The paths down to Cavagrande were closed when we got there, after disastrous fires in late June 2014. Plenty of disappointed visitors at the entrance looking down towards the stunning lakes far below, but the path is not safe so the guards can't let people in. 'Come back next year' was the advice.

Take water and suntan lotion with you when you go. You can manage with sandals, but I suggest jogging shoes or similar. The steep path goes down in to a deep canyon. It takes time to walk down and back up.
If you have problems with knees, don't go there. You don't need to be an ironman to go there but take it easy. And remember to drink.
Absolutely worth a visit!

Potresti darmi qualche consiglio?
