Overview
More
Opened to the public in May 2012, Palazzo Branciforte, which extends over an area of 5.650 square meters, houses some of the Fondazione Sicilia important collections. On display on the ground floor is the archaeological collection; the main floor houses the stamp, coin and sculpture collections, along with the historical Library which preserves about 50,000 books from the Fondazione Sicilia collection. From here you can make your way to the splendid spaces of the Monte di Santa Rosalia, a rare surviving example of wooden architecture in the nineteenth century, where you can admire the Giacomo Cuticchio's sicilian Puppets collection.

We enjoyed our afternoon here - small archeological museum, charming giftshop. Loved the tour of the buildings: a stamp collection, library with an amazing mural on the ceiling, the bronzes by Mussolini's favorite artist and of course the fascinating pawn shop. Easy to find, near...More

Stumbled across this place by chance. Old Palazzo that has been refurbished part as a museum part restaurant and part preserved to show its past use as a pawn shop. Fascinating private tour for 4 euros which was conducted by a highly articulate and knowledgable...More

This was a slightly boring , short tour of the Palace. The benefits are that it is air-conditioned, with a guided tour. The drawbacks are that the tour guide doesnt know much other than her usual speech, the actual things to see in the palace...More

I've been there two times and every time is a new discovery. Visits are always accompained by a well prepared guide and you can discover the only contemporary architecture restoration in town, signed by architect Gae Aulenti. The "monte di pietà" sector is simply moving...

This is a relatively new museum not far from the Archaeological Museum which looks like it will be closed for a long time. I didn't miss the old museum one bit as the Palazzo Branciforte is an historical gift to be cherished. Where else can...More
