This mansion was totally destroyed and rebuilt after a great fire many years ago. From the original inside, there are only few pieces, but the mansion is really awesome. Decorated and built in full liberty style, it counts of four floor (underground, basement, 1 and 2 floor). Unfortunately all the stuff inside (except the structure and the walls) are renewed... A charming building, so well restored after a fire - but even the burnt bits look by design. Very friendly guide explained everything.

Off the beaten track, this beautifully restored Art Nouveau villa can be visited for free. Tours are given in Italian and, depending on the guide, other languages. Most of the interior of the villa was lost in a fire but great effort has been put into restoring the original feeling of the place with some original bits remaining. The building... More

A staff member of the Castello della Zisa sent me there (Villa Florio) and said I would def enjoy it. He was totally right. It's a very beautiful Art Nouveau villa build by the wealthy family Florio around 1900. One of the friendly staff members, Lucia, speaks perfectly German like a native speaker. This was a most important family during late 1800s and beginning of 1900s. They were also instrumental in starting the Targa Florio sports car races and Marsala wines.

I always thought Villino Florio is the best thing in Palermo. Is something that belongs to another era,something that we can truly called "art". A piece of art inside the city. Unfortunately,like lot of things in Italy (especially in Sicily) this awesome piece of art is almost abandoned. The township keep this structure daily close and it's a real pity... More
