Roman Baroque Catholic church and attached female convent. Damaged by the 1990 earthquake and repaired by 2012. The favourite time of the visit is around sunset to climb up to the base of the dome allows for views of the city and the looming Etna volcano, if not cloudy or dusty weather, for 5 Euro. Definitely worth of climb.

Beautiful views on the whole city center and Etna from the top, definitely worth a visit! On the other side there is a sea view, which u usually don't see much from city center. Price was adults is 5 euros.

Free to enter and €5 to see the view on the terrace and belvedere. I was hesitant to pay that to see the view but glad I did. On a clear and sunny day like I had it was beautiful! Fantastic scenery of Mt Etna and over the old town. There is a lift to get to the terrace if you wish and 70 more stairs after that. Otherwise it’s 170 stairs to go up. The church itself has a decent interior and there was a choir practicing when I was there.

Entry to the roof climb is 5 euros but there are a lot of steps. There are intermediate levels where you can pause to catch your breath if necessary. The last set is very narrow - very much one at a time. The roof offer fabulous views over and into the city: quite fun trying to identify each of the church domes. Being so high the views over to Etna are very good. The climb provides some insights into the building's construction

Next to the cathedral this smaller church offers a spectacular walkway around the dome outside. Great views of piazza duomi and the bell tower of the cathedral. Only a few euros for a very sceenic experience of rooftop Catania.

Church with attached convent just across the street from the cathedral that is worth a visit. It's free to enter but you pay if you want to go up onto the roof - we didn't but it is supposed to have excellent views. Designed by Vaccarini as is the duomo - it has an elongated octagonal shape with a large glass chandelier beneath the cupola. Also a venue for classical concerts which would be good if on when you visit.
