Apprehensive about the cost like most reviewers but it is so awesome when up there.. better than Vesuvius. Car parking can be bought for half a day which starts/ends at 1pm

The mist and fog obscured the scenery. The black lava all around was a bit eery. Did not have time for the cable way. The symbol of Sicily is an impressive visit.

Yes, of course. You can drive easily from Catania to Piano Bottara, on the south side of the volcano or to piano Provenzana on the north side. If you need, you can rent a car at the airport or in the downtown. In summer... More

You may drive to the cabecar station with the kids, then take the cablecar and trucks to the top with them. It is safe.
