I wasn't quite knowing what to expect, other than we were told up front that we would not be allowed to go to the top and view the crater. It was way too active when we were there. However, we were allowed to trek quite...More

We almost didn't go up here, as we had been to other volcanos in Costa Rica and Hawaii, but it was worth the trip. Amazing place. Be sure to see the buried house on the way up or down. Also, wear HIKING shoes/boots for better...More

As we arrived at Etna we found the EuroEtna Tourism office and paid for a guided trekking experience. We were given all the required gear and the Nuccio, the leader was really informative and caring.

We stopped here as part of a day excursion from our ship and really enjoyed it. We took the bus up about half way, to the crater walking area, which has some amazing views out over the region. The craters are neat and there is...More

A great experience to see the lava new and old and how it carves up the landscape. Lots of souvenir shops at the stops on the way. We went up on an open top bus from Catania in May and it was freezing!! The bus...More

If you are referring to Mt Etna, we hired a guide who drove us to the 2500 meter level from the east side. We did not climb. The area is very impressive and beautiful. I believe that few people are allowed to the top since... More
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to do a Mt Etna tour getting picked up in catania in the morning but dropped off in Taormina after. I'm looking for a way to do it without a rental car if that is possible. Would hiring a private driver probably be the only way? If so, does anyone have any recommendations on a good one?

Buckeye Yes there are all manner of private cars that will do it for you. We used a reliable driver to collect us from Syracusa in the south, take us to Mt Erna cable car station for a tour, collect us 5 hours later and take... More
I'm heading to Etna in June with local family but unsure if we can do 4x4 trucks and cable car once we get there or is there a way to book in advance? Or is the only option to do this through a tour? Thanks
