This is very important in the city tradition history. Located just one step away from the Cripta of Sant'Efisio, you should definitely visit both.

Just 2eur to enter, but that's about right given how small and limited it is to visit. There is a brief explanation in English and an art installation inside which adds to the ambience. An unusual site to visit and interesting to discover the history behind it.

This was an interesting place. It has a history as a place of worship, a bomb shelter, and an internment site.

There were several interesting stone altars and bits of ancient frescos.

Not sure I understand the purpose of the string spider webs.

It was well lighted and easy to navigate.

A nice and different visit, particularly in the heat of the day. The crypt (charge 2 Europs from memory) is damp and slighly dark, various areas including niches and small tunnels. Used as a bunker during conflict.

We weren't sure that we wanted to see this but it was one of the highlight of our trip. Spooky but we loved it. We were the only ones there. In the church next door / above they had a service with beautiful singing which we could hear while making our way through the caves. Loved it!

The crypt has also been used as a church through the ages and also air raid shelter during the second world war. Narrow tunnels with low roofs excavated out of the local rock make for great atmosphere. Some floors are uneven, but reasonably well lit, so access down stairs and through the site is a little tricky bur safe.

A pleasant break out of the heat of the sun. Nothing spectacular inside but still worth a visit and a wander around.
