The Botanical Garden has the most amazing collection of cacti! We were impressed initially because we were given a map to follow and brochure which explained things in English. Most Mediterranean gardens are disappointing but this one was excellent and we spent 1.5 hours there. Look for the tortoises.

Lovely large gardens to amble about in on a hot day. Loads of different and unusual plants to see. Waterfalls and pools. Very enjoyable.

If you like botanical gardens, you will enjoy this. It is a large area not so far from the center of town. However, it is more for research reasons than for display ones, because there are many of the same species, and out of season not many are flowering.

We spent a couple of hours here on a hot day, it was quiet and shady. Great value at just 4 euros per person. Make sure you take mosquito repellent and a water bottle (no cafe, but there are a few drinking water taps).

We were rather disappointed with this. It was late summer and so was probably not at its best. However, it did not have that really well looked after look. It looked in need of some tlc. The map we were given at the entrance told us where everything was, but the information boards were only in Italian, so we did... More

We spent the whole day here, just lovely to walk around and sit in the shade. They also sometimes have various exhibitions on in the small surrounding buildings within the garden. We were particularly fascinated with the Roman cistern, and being the only ones there at the time loved walking through the tunnels...really creepy! They don't serve refreshments so best... More

The Orto Botanico is situated close to the city centre. You can walk here or take a bus. The entrance fee is €4 per person. You can get a guided tour or go in by yourself (i think the guided tour was €6? Per person) the garden is very pretty and calming. You can spend here an hour at least... More

We spent a couple of hours wandering round here. We were supplied with a map and information and it mostly corresponded to what was on the ground. There were some interesting plants and trees, and some pleasant water features. My favourite was the old quarry with ferns in and water misting over them. Also the turtles in the 'strange pond'
