This is a series of graves believed to date from around 3000BC. They were discovered in the early 1900's and were further excavated and investigated during subsequent years. Any artefacts discovered have long since been removed to museums, so what is left is a series...More

The necropolis has only been open to tourists in recent years. You cannot argue with its significance when you know of its age and the information it relays of thousands of years ago. The people for example must have been very small. Again it is...More

The prehistoric necropolis contains over 30 graves similar to Domus de Janas and artificial rock cut chambers. The necropolis is situated near the airport of Alghero and near the Sella & Mosca winery, which is an additional reason to come in this region.

You have to walk around the site, everything is underground. Artificial caves used for graves, most not very deep. From a distance it only seems a flat field. We found it interesting, but we are interested in archeology

I love ancient history, but this was sadly lacking. You're basically just looking at a few holes in the ground. You're asked not to climb down for a further look so you were left reading an info board and looking at a diagram of the...More

I'm really into this stuff, but the interpretation here left even me unmoved. Don't get me wrong, the reality of this incredible Copper Age assemblage of mausoleums is breathtaking, but to make sense of it needs more than a set of minimal descriptions of the...More

Hundreds of years of burial history right under your feet and you get to get real close to examine the tombs yourself. Great signs at every tomb, real informational and the bookshop at the entrance has some great books if you like to read some...More

We walked up from Alghero, but the address/directions in TripAdvisor are not correct - says it's about 1 mile from town - but it's not! So had to give up - Google Maps puts it much further away - so if you have a car...More

Went here with Naturalghero. There are so many different tombs with great levels of preservation, although some of the more delicate carving of the bulls head is very difficult to see. I'm an archaeologist and could waffle on for 1000's of words about the importance,...More
