Alghero Old Town is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area. It’s very pretty and links to a lovely marina and promenade. It’s busy at lunchtimes and evenings and has lots of restaurants, cafés and ice cream parlours as well as shops specialising in leather goods.

This is one of many squares where you can sit and just watch the world go by. When we visited there were lovely flower decoations hanging around not only this square but also in nearby streets.

No longer accessible by car. Plenty of bars and restaurants near the square. The outlets are priced for tourists and cruise visitors. Better value to be had by venturing further from the piazza civics. Some nice shops are located nearby but these are also expensive unless you go there when the generally have good sales!

Piazza Civica is the emblem of Alghero overwhelmed by mass tourism. On its long and narrow surface there are expensive restaurants with low-level tourist menus, bars with improbable management and exorbitant prices, apparently luxury shops hunting for tourists with little availability. Almost nothing is authentic here, apart from the outer walls of some historic palace.

Nice lively atmosphere, the piazza is known as the dining room, alluding to the harvest of shops and restaurants. It contains the best place to shop for coral jewellery, Marogna at no. 34. A little further is the best eatery for Sardinian gormandising, ll Giotto , an Aladdin’s cave of delights.

This is a rather small square in the heart of the Old Town, with plenty of oper-air restaurants and shops all around it.If you would like to enjoy it at ease, go there before the evening when crowds of tourists spoil its charm & tranquility.

Very lively main square of the old town.
Packed with nice restaurants and some shops.
Best part of it are numerous colorful lampions, especially great in the night.
Interesting Spanish-influenced architecture all around.

Good place to have a relief from a shopping tour in the jewelleries with all that coral stuff... Enjoying a good Aperol Spritz and watching the street musicians.

One of the larger piazze in Alghero. It is surrounded by shops and cafes’.
Since it is very close to several points of entry into the old city, it is always very crowded.
