To get to this Swabian castle tourists have to enlist in the Italian Navy. The castle is closed to tourists, but it can survive. If you want better to visit a very significant similar castle in Bari. The castle of Brindisi passed from one owner to another. The Normans, the Swabians, the Venetians. Everyone who wanted to control Brindisi. The castle became a prison in the XVIII century, and in the XX century became a garrison.

The Svevo Castle looks interesting from the outside, but as it is not possible to visit it should be removed from tourist attractions. We were at the castle gate, parked our car and could not get in. Disappointment!!

Impressive, massive, long history. Functions today as a military building, therefore cannot be visited.

It looked to be an intersting historical castle but sadly it is used by the miliary and closed to the public. Worth taking a look from the gate however.

So bad it' s closed to the public, but if you're interested in castles still worth the walk to it, which won't take you long since Brindisi is not a big place and everything is at relatively short walking distance;

The castle itself is interesting to see. There is a theater that shows an informational video in many languages. The thing that interested us the most was the ability to see the actual areas where the archaeological dig is continuing and the many items on display that were uncovered. Inexpensive place with a lot of history of the area.

The Castle Svevo di Brindisi is visible from many parts of Brindisi and looks very interesting, but visitors should be aware that it is not possible to actually visit the castle currently. I checked at the tourist information office and they told me there is no way to visit it currently unless you are in the Italian military.

While you need to book in order to visit, this castle is amazing. You can see the whole port from it and visit the rooms where apparently the king of Italy stayed durung the war. Worth a visit...
