This is yet another impressive church, in a city that is full of them. That said, it is not as good as some of the others, although the dome near the altar is very impressive.

There are some interesting paintings to see here, but it's not one of the better churches, despite being one of the largest. Most of the exterior is under scaffolding & tarpaulin as of May 2018.

This church was having construction on the outside when we visited. We went inside while they were having church service . We walked around looked at the beautiful inside then said some prayers and left.

Initially built as Benedictine monastery in 1064 on the banks of the Adige River. But over the years it has been demolished and rebuilt many times. The bell tower was designed by Brugnoli in the twelfth century and still stands. The bulk of the church...More

This is directly across the river from the cathedral. Crossing over the Ponte Garibaldi, you enter a much quieter and greener part of the city, with virtually no tourists. It`s free entry into this church with a lovely domed interior and geometric tiled floor. Outside...More

Wandering through the city I saw in the distance this church, the first thing that struck me was the green dome highlighted by distance. The church is located adjacent to the river, but when I went near it I noticed with amazement that there were...More

We did one of the suggested walks around Verona and crossed the river and headed along the Lungadige san Giorgio and came across this church which is said to have begun in 1447. Additions to the Church continued through the centuries and from the outside...More

If you are in Verona for a longer stay and like Renaissance painting, I recommend this church. It's an easy, car-free walk from Centro. Either cross the Ponte Pietra (the Roman pedestrian bridge near the Teatro Romano) and veer left or take the Ponte Garibaldi...More
