The inferior church is beautiful and peaceful and not to be missed. The superior church is amazing inside with its wooden, ship-like roof. Full of works of art and well worth visiting as part of the 4 church route.

There is a combination ticket that gets you into churches. This one is more of a walk than the others but worth it.

Having time for only one more sight in Verona, I made my way to the Chiesa di Santi Forme e Rustico near the Ponta Vecchio. There was both a very old lower church, with grates in the floor through which you can see even lower...More

This is my favorite church in Verona; out of the four that the tourist books tell you to visit... and it will not disappoint.

Buy the ticket to see all 4 churches/cathedral for the price of 2 as 3€ individual . Not so stunning as other churches viewed but has history dating to 12th century. Great audio guide.

Layered art history — that’s what you get at San Fermo. The lower church is atmospheric, with frescoes and fragments of earlier frescoes covering walls and the massive pillars that hold up the later church above. The upper church is also covered in works of...More

I visited the Chiesa di San Fermo while wandering the streets of Verona. The admission desk provides a map of the interior and a listening device to get lectures when you hit coded buttons (3 Euro). The church has a lower sanctuary with some very...More

The lower church allows viewing acces to the ruins of the oldest church on the site. The upper church contains a decorative wooden ceiling which has to be seen because a description would not do it justice. Definitely a "must do" on a visit to...More

The church is worth a visit if only to see its extraordinary roof. Having visited hundreds of historical churches, I don't recall a single one with a similar ceiling. Really interesting!
