David LaChapelle was sick!

The exhibition on at the moment is a must see! Great photos from a great artist with an informative video on what a cool guy he is!

In Casa dei Tre Oci there is a show about THE NORTH POLE now. One finds numerous beautiful images of white landscape and its people. Besides that video explanatories are projected in two rooms. It is very, very, very interesting.

We visited to see the photographic exhibition of Helmut Newton nudes, and we're pleasantly surprised at the building and its grounds too. It is located a few metres from the Zitelle vaporetto stop, which is 2 stops from San Zaccaria on line 2.

This is avery beautiful palace at a nice location a bit off the main touristic tracks on the island of Giudecca. We visited the Helmut Newton exhibition which was very interesting and impressive. But probably also other exhibitions will benefit a lot from these fine surroundings.

Stunning location with views from the quay at Zitelle and inside Tre Oci with glimpses from the windows of St Marks and St Giorgio Maggiore. There are bars and restaurants nearby, including the Cipriani Hotel. Exhibition of stylish b & w and colour photographs mainly from the '70s and '80s. Subjects are beautiful models, mainly naked, and often erotic. The... More

What a fabulous venue for this photography exhibit - Easily accessible by vaporetto - the layout of Casa dei Tre Oci is fabulous with nice sized rooms for keeping the visitors moving forward and providing ample space to display such a collection of art.

You have time till next August 7th to appreciate the shots of Helmut Newton. When you arrive at the top floor you have one of the best view of Venice: the Giudecca Canal, the Church of the "Salute" and the tower of San Marco Square.

A short Vaporetto Water Bus ride from the San Marco area will take you to this nice photography gallery. I saw a Salgado Exhibition and it was nicely done. I plan on returning to this gallery when I return to Venice. An added benefit is the view across the water to San Marco and Venice from the gallery windows.

Casa dei Tre Oci currently has an exhibition of women photographers from 1920 to the present. It is a most extraordinary collection of historical art and photography and well worth the trip is you are in Venice.

This beautiful early C20th gothic building is on the quieter island of Giudecca, easily accessed by vaporetto (water bus) and near to other amazing places to visit such as the campanile of San Georgio. It has fantastic views of Venice. The Tre Oci building is lovely in and of itself and the photography exhibition we saw was excellent; very well... More

Staying in Giudecca

Neighbourhood Profile
Giudecca
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.
