Historically, the first free tour in Venice. With the best guides with open hearts who are willing to show you the real city and give you great tips about where to go and what to see. It's probably the best welcoming tour in the city.

We really enjoyed this free tour -- very informative, covered lots of parts of Venice away from the crowds, moved at the right pace (with an excellent break for snack/drink in the middle). Afterwards Lara gave us great suggestions for places to eat and explore. We would not have enjoyed our stay in Venice nearly as much without her tour... More

We had Lara as our guide. She was lovely - very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour was excellent, we discovered parts of venice we probably wouldn't have seen on our own and lots of interesting information. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Our tour took us to places that I had not seen, away from much of the crowd. Beautiful art in some hidden churches and the old Customs Building at the start of the canal. Learned a lot from Lara who had a deep understanding of the culture and history. Excellent job!

It was a very interesting informative and enjoyable walking tour of Dorsudoro district of Venice. Guide Andrea is outstanding. For an Italian his command over English is commendable. He has very good and in depth Knowledge of everything he spoke about. Very good thing about this tour is it has a theme ' construction of venice over centuries'. Andrea had... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hour walking tour of Venice, off the beaten track. Lara was great and full of knowledge and helped us to understand how Venice has become what it is today. We also enjoyed ice cream at Suso on her recommendation. Would highly recommend this to anyone when you first arrive in this beautiful city!

Our guide was Andrea and seems he knows everything about Venice. He answered any questions, showed and recommended some unusual places where to go. We took morning tour and it is about architecture and specifics of Venice. Thanks a lot! By the way this is not a free tour — it is ‘pay what you want‘ tour. You may not... More

First of all I can't believe this tour was free! I have taken many tours and paid good money but this was one of the most insightful, infomative tours! Francesco took us to so many of the hidden gems of Venice and gave us so much history. The tour lasted about 4 hours with a break in between. He showed... More

We took the afternoon tour today and it was fantastic. Our guide was Adam. Adam shared lots of great information and provided lots of tips of where to eat in Venice. We went to one of his restaurants recommendations after and it was great! Highly recommend!

Andrea was a fantastic host. Our first walking tour experience and he was very informative and took us to parts we would have never know to visit alone. A really eye opener. The tour ran at a good pace to keep up and Andrea was good at answering all questions even once the tour had ended.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
