I purchased this for my Husband's birthday and we really werent disappointed. Marco is such a friendly chap and he is very knowledgeable about cameras, photography and especially Venice. My Husband learnt a lot about his camera and the best way to take better photos without "too much sky"! (LOL) 2 hours wasnt long enough, we would love to spend... More

My husband and I spent two hours touring the streets of Venice with Marco and it was wonderful! He took us off the busy streets and into the history and culture of the city. All the while helping us to take amazing photographs which we will treasure. He was so interesting to visit with and really helped us see and... More

If you hate crowds, love history and are interested in what real Venetians think this tour is for you. Marco picked us up right where we were staying and led us around his beautiful city, before the hoards of tourists showed up for the day. He encouraged us to look at sites that weren't popular, that doesn't mean they weren't... More

We spent our first afternoon in Europe on a family photo walk with Marco. We met him at the designated spot near the chaotic Rialto Bridge and within a few minutes, we were strolling through a quiet, residential part of Venice we would never have discovered on our own. Marco was super patient with our 10 & 14 year old... More

We loved our photography tour – and we loved meeting Marco. He has an interesting background and a great sense of humor. We met early morning and Marco showed show us the beauty of Venice without the crowds – wonderful photo ops, tips and a bit of history as Marco patiently answered all our questions. Our only regret is that... More

In mid October my wife and I were touring Europe for our honeymoon and Venice was our 3rd city on the list. Naturally, we began researching different tours and activities that would give us a feel for the culture of each city we visited. My wife found this photo walk with Marco Secchi and as I'm sure you can see... More

We started our 3 hour session early in the morning, what a great time of day. Not just for photographic lighting but because everywhere was quiet except for a few tourists and people going about their work on the water. I was the photographer, my husband joined me and had a lot of discussion with Marco about life in Venice,... More

My wife and I just had the photo walk with Marco and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Marco is a kind and gentle professional who provides you with advice on improving your photo composition as well as helpful technical tips. As he took us through the less traveled back walkways of Venice, he provided us with... More

We met Marco early on our first morning - a lovely time of day, and great for super images! Our daughter had a new mobile phone for pictures, and I have an old Canon T90 film camera, with B & W film. This was a wonderful introduction to Venice, for, not only did we see great places for photographs, we... More

My husband and I just got back from an unforgettable 2 week trip to Italy and while we loved so many of the places we visited, the 2 hr afternoon photo walk with Marco in Venice was one of our favorite memories. It was so rewarding to experience Venice on a much deeper level than just the touristy spots. Marco... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
