Walk around the island, enter the church, ride the elevator up the tower. You'll be rewarded by more peaceful views of Venice. I can't add much to other reviews. We stopped here during a water taxi tour. We could have spent more time here if...More

San Giorgio Maggiore is a Benedictine church dating back to the 16th century. It can be reached by the vaporetto from San Marco. It has an imposing white facade that stood out as we passed it on the vaporetto.

A 5’ vaporetto ride on #2 from S Marco will take you to the island. At the time of our visit there was a free exposition on Murano glass, which I thought rivaled the one in the Glass Museum on Murano itself. Don‘t miss the...More

Incredible views of Venice if you climb the bell tower for a small fee (6 euros). Worth it! Easy ferry ride to/from.

The cathedral is nice, but not as ornate as St. Mark’s Basilica. But the views of Venice from the island are amazing. Definitely worth the trip out there.

Some of the best views of Venice are not from the crowded Bell Tower at St Marks Square but from the bell tower in the church on this small but beautiful island. Take a Vaporetto #2 and it's a quick 5 minutes to get here...More

We were told by our tour guide to go to the Bell tower and weren’t disappointed, the view over all of Venice was inspiring. Take a Vaperto in front of St Marks Square

It is well worth taking the vaporetto out here even for a short visit. We did not have time to go up the campanile but, nonetheless, we enjoyed the view from the front of the Church back towards Venice itself. Very quiet and not busy,...More

Yes, and everywhere is beautiful. Make sure you go up the bell tower as well as viewing Tintoretto’s “Last Supper” ( which I found tricky to photograph due to placement of church “spot lights”). Enjoy.
