This church is a place where you can sit and reflect. It certainly was a welcomed respite from a warm day. What was magnificent was the quiet serenity of the space that was enhanced by lovely art.

This church is out on the way but well worth a visit. This was Tintoretto's place of worship and is adorned with fabulous paintings by himself, his son, and Cima. Because it's out of the way the church felt as it should, quiet, contemplative, we were able to appreciate it on every level.

Quite a small and average for such a great artist tintoretto, burried here.North East to the Jewish Gheto and in less touristic area of Venice. Is it not a must visit but it is some kind of gratitude to the great artist. Admission of 2 or 3 Euros is requested..

Madonna dell Or to is my favorite church in Venice. It has many masterpieces. My favorite is Tintorretto's: The Vision of St. Peter.

This large, but unremarkable exterior in a fairly remote part of the city, belies the art treasures inside - three large master works by Tintoretto. If you are an art lover, this is a must see.

So I love Tintoretto the painter. Several of his works are here and so is he. It is off the beaten path so it not full of tourists, only art lovers. Walk around, say hello to the master.

I found this church facade rather delightful. The white outlines against the red brick is a feature that stands out, even among the churches of Venice. We did not manage to see the inside of the church, but as with every other church, I believe it would be worthwhile to go inside.

This is not the most beautiful church in Venice however, as the star of the show is the artwork of Jacopo Tintoretto, It is perhaps fitting that the church itself takes a back seat. In particular the two huge teleri either side of the chancel, Last Judgement & Adoration of the Golden Calf are stunning. €3 is a very modest... More

This 14th century church is a must-see for those who are into art. This was one battleground in the rivalry between Tiziano (Titian) and Tintoretto. Tintoretto's three master pieces are here: his Last Judgement, The Worship of the Golden Calf and The Presentation of Mary in the Temple. The are other Tintoretto's and Titians in the church as well. The... More

You can get here easily by vaporettos #5.1 or 5.2 It's in the quite sestier (district) of CannaRegio, (N.E. part). It's a relatively simple church where Tintoretto is buried (although it is still very large) and contains quite a number of his works. It is named after a statue that was moved here from a garden after becoming a pilgrimage... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
