One of the great ancient libraries of Italy, containing many early books, illuminated manuscipts and ancient texts in a stunning space overlooking St. Mark's Square.

The library and Museum were beautiful. The first Monday of each month is free as well, so that is a nice tip for tourists

I first visited this place 10 years ago when they had the same arrangement: 3 museums in 1 and as we bought our tickets online via VisitMuve we only had to scan the barcode to get in. The only complaint about his place is that...More

The library is included in the Doge's Palace ticket along with two other museums and is adjacent to one of them. There's not much to see, you just go with the flow.More

Our Monumental rooms are housed in two halls: the Vestibule, or Antechamber, and the Hall which was the former seat of the Public Library (or St. Mark's Library). Both halls are the work of Jacopo Sansovino, who built the library between 1537 and 1553. The...More

Part of the visit to the Correr Museum. It came at the end of our tour of the museum but there is possibly another more direct entrance. The opening hours are more restricted than for the Correr so do check in advance and, as when...More

Beautiful building just not quite what I was expecting for a library. Not many books. just one small room. worth a look if you are already inside the building but no need to visit especially.

It was built between 1537 and 1560 as per the designs by Jacopo Sansovino. The library was commissioned by the Procuratori di San Marco for the Greek and Latin codices donated to the Republic of Venice in 1468 by Cardinal Bessarion. It was one of...More

This library is one of the most important in the Western world because it contains numerous medieval manuscripts, especially Greek manuscripts brought West from Constantinople. This is really a combined museum with Museo Correr, but is a lovely place to walk through. It is relatively small, but if you are visiting the Palace museums then it is certainly worth stopping by to see the architecture.
