My family and I toured Venice with Luisella this past April 15, 2017. Our tour was the first thing we did once arriving and I can say unequivocally it was the best way to start our stay in Venice. Luisella is a native Venetian whose depth of historical, cultural and geographical knowledge of Venice was far beyond our expectations of... More

We are two Swedish couples who spent two days in Venice. After two hectic hours´, having seen the Dodge palace with "official guides" together with an endless number of fellow visitors, we met the salvation in shape of Luisella. Since the weather was made for walking, she took us through St Marco, Cannareggio, the Jewish Getto (the original spelling, since... More

We were a group of 6 senior adults who were fortunate to have Luisella Romeo guide us in the St. Marks area including the Basilica and the Dodge's Palace for 3 hours the afternoon of March 22, 2017. She gives a lot of detail in an interesting way and her command of english is excellent. She realized early on that... More

Spent 3 wonderful hours on a extremely interesting tour to include the Cannaregio area, the Jewish Ghetto and a water taxi ride on the Grand Canal. Luisella has a remarkable knowledge of the history and culture of Venice. She speaks English perfectly and delivers a wealth of information including interesting anecdotes re life ( past and present) in Venice. She... More

Luisella was a wonderful guide. She met us at our hotel and completely understood that we had just arrived in Venice and had dragged our bags a long way; so she gave us time to breathe...Then she proceeded to take us on an excellent and history-laden guide to her native city. In two short hours we saw and learned so... More

My stay in Venice for a week included guided tours by Luisella Romeo. She was wonderful, delightful, and a true professional. The knowledge and humor she shared is most memorable of all my trip. When I go back to Venice, she will be my guide. No doubts.

My husband and I just spent a week in Venice with a photography group. Fortunately some of our time was devoted to seeing Venice with Luisella Romeo, who was superlative at bringing Venice to life for us. Whether it is monuments that we might have seen before, or knowing which back alleys give one interesting pictures, being with Luisella gave... More

My wife and I visited Venice for the first time in February to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. We wanted to tailor a morning's sightseeing to cover the areas that interested us with the view that this would give us a good grounding to decide what else we wanted to do during our visit or where we would like to... Luisella conducted a great tour of the Doge and we couldn't have been more delighted. We booked a private tour for 3 people and she was very engaging and informative. She took the time to answer all of our questions and was very thorough. Would highly recommend her!

Luisella was brilliant from start to finish. We had my two teenage children with us and she engaged and entertained them instantly. She is very knowledgeable and well organised and we had a very interesting and enlightening tour. My daughter had a dental problem and Luisella was very helpful in replying to my email questions. I can't recommend her highly... More

Dear Julia, thank you for these wonderful words! A pleasure meeting you and your family, indeed! And a pleasure to try to be of help as a local only can :) So happy you've enjoyed the doge's palace and its secret itinerary! Lots of steps, lots of history and art, but glad it was never boring! Staying in Giudecca

Neighbourhood Profile
Giudecca
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.
