Ther are excellent views over Venice and well worth going to the top. Current cost is €8 per person. You can go during teh day when you will have to queue for ages, ther is only a small lift to the top, or the end of the day when everyone else has finised their tour's and sightseeing for the day.... We arrived in St Marks square early and there were only a few people lined up for the Tower. We made the mistake of wandering off for a coffee and when we came back we were 50 people deep in the line. That's a tip by the way! They finally opened the gates well after the advertised opening time and... More

We visited this site about 25 minutes before it closed in the evening -- there was no one else in line, we walked right in. When we got to the top, we caught the most spectacular sunset. There were very few people atop the tower, so we could linger and take photos and videos to our delight. During the day... More

My husband and I visited here last week. Its worth noting you can't buy tickets online for this, the queue wasn't too bad (we waited about 25 mins). Once inside its 8 euros pp and there is an additional fee of 5 euro if you'd like an audio guide (we didn't bother with this). There are no steps and your... More

While in Piazza San Marco, be sure and ride the elevator to the top of the Campanile for the absolute best views of Venice. Queue can be quite long but worth the wait and the nominal admission price.

We went to St. Mark's Square and did see the tower that was impressive. The lines were long so we did not go to the top.

This is a must on the todo list. Fantastic views over all of Venice.Get to the top via lift you can get an audio description but we did not bother. But you can watch the queues for St Marcs grow os shrink from the top. Prams are not allowed.

Come here on your visit to see some fantastic views right across the city and the islands. Well worth the few euros entry. Be warned prams are allowed and can take up a significant amount of room at the top.

If you are in Venice you absolutely HAVE to go and take the elevator to the top of the Campanile di San Marco. What a view! Pictures from there are wonderful and it really is a breathtaking sight. Walk all the way around and get a 360 degree view of Venice in its entirety.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
