Most fascinating church I think I have ever seen. Very beautiful inside and outside. No pictures allowed but I liked that, as it made the church even more sacred. Fantastic church inside and one church that you will not forget. It has a real magic...More

Others here have done a good job if conveying the scale and importance and beauty of this wonderful church, and describing the very beautiful, dramatic painting above the altar, Titian's magnificent Assumption of the Virgin. Let me add a hot tip: make sure you also...More

Venice boats many beautiful churches, we visited a number during our stay in Venice, but, internally, this is by far one of the most beautiful and vast. This church is well worth a visit, it is absolutely breath-taking internally. Please do make the time to...More

St. Mark's is more famous. But for beauty and inspiration, see this church. The art is stunning. And it is simple, in the Franciscan tradition. The simplicity will make the beauty and value of this church jump out. Enjoy!

Pictures are NOT allowed (sadly) because it is a discovery to have found this church. The true treasure is close to the altar where you can spend quite a while mesmerised at the ceiling and altar that tell stories of centuries past. The tombs are...More

Fairly unassuming on the outside, but inside is a delight. The artwork is exquisite, especially the drapery carved on the statues of Canova's tomb. We arrived not long before it shut and the woman on the entrance was packing up and just let everyone in...More

If you are staying at a hotel I. Venice, ask them for a map and let them mark the directions.
I'm going to visit Venice in two weeks and I can't see the difference between "St Mary of the Friars" and "Basilica dei Frari", so please tell me and in what way.
