From this piazza you visit The Basilica of San Antonio, the Scoletta and the San Giorgio baptistery. They are all phenomenal. You can also visit a museum or 2 behind the Basilica

The piazza may be like or worse than others but the chapel and baptistery have beautiful frescos and are must sees! It has some of the most interesting statues at the alter

We stopped here to see the cathedral on a Saturday afternoon in December and were surprised to see the square’s relatively small size compared to the others in Padua’s historic center. Only a few stalls contributed to the open market here and tables and chairs set out by restaurants had been crammed in on some of the limited surface space.

The main attractions — a cathedral with a plain, unfinished facade and its baptistry with outstanding 14-century frescoes — stand on the west side. Few people were in the square during our visit and we missed the lively atmosphere of the other piazzas, where we stopped in Padova, such as Piazza delle Erbe and nearby Piazza dei Signori.

In comparison with the beautiful squares (Piazza della Frutta, Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Signiori) in the city center, this is an average square. Around there is the Duomo, the Diocesan Museum, the Battistero and the building of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo. They do interesting exhibitions there, for examole the very interesting exhibition about Galileo, which ended in March 2018.

There are also some cafes around. I especially recommend the Pasticceria Al Duomo with little lovley cakes and good coffee.

In the one end of the Piazza you will find some restaurants, on the other side, you find the Duomo - a place to visit. Besides the Duomo you will be able to visit "Palace of the Bishops" - now a museum. A must see.

Average square compared to the beautiful, central squares in Padova. Has a few bars and restaurants as usual in Italy. Dominated by the Duomo and the Battistero.

The Piazza del Duomo is neither the largest nor the most scenic in Padua. The façade of the cathedral is unfinished and devoid of decorations and the nearby baptistery is a marvel on the inside but rather simple on the outside. To the side is the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà but overall I would have expected better coming from the visit to the baptistery where I had entered from behind.
