Insights into exotic Mediterranean landscapes and views of the surrounding...

Insights into exotic Mediterranean landscapes and views of the surrounding mountain chains and sun-kissed Merano: The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle comprises eighty natural and cultivated landscapes nestled into a natural amphitheatre, a wide array of themed gardens, and numerous Artist Pavilions and Experience Stations. Visitors find the extraordinary combination of nature, culture and art at South Tyrol's most popular attraction absolutely enchanting. The interplay of historical and contemporary architecture, a rich variety of events, and seasonal blooming throughout the course of the year all make Trauttmansdorff an experience for all five senses and for visitors of all ages. After being named Italy's Most Beautiful Garden in 2005 and Europe's No. 6 Garden in 2006, Trauttmansdorff was honored with the International Garden of the Year award in 2013, thus joining the ranks of the world's most important and beautiful gardens and parks. The Touriseum, the spirited museum housed inside Trauttmansdorff Castle, now spotlights recent tourism history and features new exhibits about the castle's VIP guests.

The places is a mixture of vibrant colours, beautiful viewing points, stunning flowers and information boards scattered about the place (in a mixture of languages) The garden for lovers (a new exhibition when we went I think) is a must see, some gorgeous statues... The garden is amazing and a wonderful place where you'll find whatever you can imagine and more. I'll come back there in spring in order to smell and watch the fantastic set of roses

Do not miss Trauttmansdorff Castle Gardens if visiting Merano! The setting, as well as the permanent and seasonal flower gardens are simply gorgeous. And the castle travel museum is interesting too. The gardens are pretty extensive. Allow between 2-3 hrs and enjoy a meal or drink in the cafe'. Great views of the surrounding area. Highly recommended!

The gardens are absolutely beautiful. They are full of color, information, and the views of the mountains from a couple of the walkways are spectacular. If you're ever in Meran/Merano and don't visit the Botanical Gardens, you're certainly missing out.

The gardens are accessed via a bridge over a main road which transports you into a wonderful world of flowers, trees and shrubs. There's plenty of quirky areas to visit and an excellent museum too. Children will love the the cave as well as the small farm and the aerial platforms which appear to hang in space! The gardens have a... More

I can't say much more than has already been said. Plan on staying at least 4 hours to begin to see the castle and gardens. Take the Number 4 bus from town and if you still have any energy left, walk back to town on the Sissi- Weg(2 miles- 45 minutes).

We spent five enjoyable hours here on a very pleasant fall day. It is easy to walk most of the paths, and the setting is breathtaking. Highly recommended.

Within the city of Merano a huge flower laden walking bridge invites one to enter these special botanical gardens. Paths lead through various labeled sections, but a knowledgable guide is very helpful with any questions. With all the levels viewing areas abound. Plan on a minimum of two hours and comfortable shoes.

Set into the hill, with many different walk ways and areas to explore. The restaurant is certainly worth a visit and we had a very good lunch with excellent service. Suitable for wheelchairs/prams and children's activities on the way around. Lovely.
