A few steps from the Cathedral, the ancient main gate of the Roman walls of Iulia Augusta Taurinorum, i.e. the Roman city now known as Turin, stands out.
Built in the 1st century BC, it underwent various renovations until, in 2006, it was brought back to its ancient splendor

This is a giant Roman gate. Located next to the Holy Shroud of Turin. It's located in little nice park and not crowded at all. Nice place to take a little walk.

Spent some time at this powerful piece of architecture / history! It has had some renovation in the past. You can visit this at any time, it's free, and is a must visit, it backs on to a park that you can chill out on.

A trip back in time. Excellent example of Roman architecture. Worth the time to find in the city center and be amazed that you can go back two thousand years

This gate is on the edge of a park, very close to Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist where the Holy Shroud is housed. Free to see and worth a photo op.

On the edge of the old town of Turin, not far from the market is the Palatine gate. It is vast and has been well restored. Large towers linked by a high curtain wall with arched gateways in brick indicate how important this was in Roman times. Well worth he slight detour. And it i frees it stands on a roadway!

And if you are there, you have also the Duomo close by and you can combine them. After than the square of 4 Marzo is also close and you can get yourself a meal or a drink.

A couple of old towers, great if you like old towers, though they could probably make more of them. Maybe light them up better at night and discourage homeless people from using them as a toilet.

It was in the guide book and it was interesting despite not knowing which bits were original and which later constructions. It is very near one of our favourite bits of Turin: the market.

As you are close to the Cathedral with the Holy shroud, visit the park with the Palatine gate from Roman days. People hang out here, amazing history in such a relaxing atmosphere.
