Museum of Ancient Art is located in Palazzo Madama (Madama Palace), which is located in Piazza Castello (Castle Square), in Torino, the main city in Piedmont Region. Here you can see a lot of artworks (paintings, sculptures wood objects, etc.) since Gothic period and also from Renaissance, Barroque and Middle-Ages styles. It is very nice. Also, you can go to the old part, where a castle there is and go up to the towers. From here, you can see very nice of old town of the city, the most important buildings like Royal Palace and Mole Antonelliana and Alpine Region. Very nice museum.

This museum is doable in an hour or two. It has richly decorated rooms, religious artwork, extensive ceramics and a nice view from it's rustic towers....which are accessible by stairs or elevator. The grand staircases near the entrance were not open the day we visited.

My mother and I visited the Palazzo Madama on August 28. The exhibitions are super and the building itself is incredible. What stood out was an incredibly helpful lady of the museum staff, who went out of her way to explain thins to us, guided us to spots we would not have seen ourselves....and simply added joy to the day of everyone she spoke to ! The people in Turin are super - thank you for your welcome and hospitality !!

I liked the baroque rooms and medieval garden of the palace. However, the art collection, especially in Baroque section lacks basic information.

Amazing building, one of the greatest in the city, and it really says a lot when you talk about Turin.

Went to spend a week with friends in Turin and visited it. Simply marvelous! The cafés at the piazza are delightful, so worth visiting. My husband and I loves it.

The Museum, with great economy of space and exhibits, whisks you through centuries of the city's existence from medieval times forward.

A nice find is a floor dedicated entirely to the ceramic arts, which reached new heights of artistry after Europe became acquainted with the Far East. Torino, remember, is just upcountry from what was then the great commercial port of Genoa which had developed various easterly sea-land connections to China and Japan....and prompted a native son , Cristoforo Colombo, to see if there wasn't a shorter route going in the other direction. Lastly, a stroll down the pedestrian mall to Piazza San Carlo, Torino's commercial/cultural center.

We were lucky to be in Turin outside the tourist season and this meant we pretty much had the Palazzo to ourselves. There is an excellent permanent collection of medieval poly chrome wood statues as well as an outstanding collection of paintings, jewellery and modern sculpting featuring well known Turin artists. This is a comfortable museum and worth the visit. Whitebeard83

Obviously, this museum will be on everyone's list when visiting Turin, but I cannot rate it highly enough for the quality of the objects and the architectural environment. It was an excellent way to spend an afternoon and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
